And a little about the Eurasian Women's Forum.

“The Eurasian Women's Forum has become a permanent discussion platform,” Valentina Matvienko emphasized in her speech. “Women senators are successfully contributing to the expansion of international dialogue.” Emphasizing the importance of international recognition of "women's issues", Valentina Matvienko noted: "We raised the women's issue at the First Meeting of APEC Women Parliamentarians, at the Global Women's Parliamentary Forum, at the next Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and many other similar events." Veronika Krasheninnikova, General Director of the Institute for Foreign Policy Research and Initiatives, raised this topic in an interview with a correspondent for the International Affairs magazine. “For a long time there has been a need to resume work on the female line, the traditions of which were in our country before,” said Veronika Yuryevna. - Therefore, the Eurasian Women's Forum is a very good permanent platform for working out the most different issues. The agenda should include classic women's topics, but also a wider range of issues. For example, we all want to live in peace - women and men - therefore, the topic of security is unconditional. In Russia, there are wonderful specialists among women who work in this area. The movement for peace, the movement for disarmament - all this within the framework of the forum and within the framework of our broad Eurasian common home, of course, is extremely important. Peace is something that is forged by joint efforts. At the forum in September 2015 I remember bright performances representatives from the Bundestag, who have already done a lot for their part - actively oppose NATO, against the militarization of Europe, against participation in American wars.

Valentina Matviyenko recalled that the Organizing Committee of the Eurasian Women's Forum presented Russian President Vladimir Putin with a report on the role of women in modern Russia. The idea of creating a National Action Strategy for Women was expressed at the Forum. “The head of state supported the proposals to further strengthen the role of women in all spheres of public, economic and political life,” emphasized the Chairman of the Federation Council. V. Matvienko expressed her hope that by the International Women's Day the "National Strategy of Action in the Interests of Women" would be approved by the Government of Russia, and then a Plan for its implementation would be prepared. Thus, the Eurasian Women's Forum, led by women senators, successfully contributes to the expansion of international dialogue.

Discussing the significance and importance of the Eurasian Women's Forum, Olga Kovitidi, a member of the Federation Council Security Committee, in an interview with International Affairs magazine emphasized: “The idea of the forum is wonderful - a lot has already been done today to expand the belt of peace and security. A huge merit in this is Valentina Ivanovna Matvienko, who, despite her workload, pays a lot of attention to this work, coordinates and directs us. I would like to point out very high organization G.N. Karelova, who, in between meetings of the Eurasian Women's Forum, also finds time so that we can discuss the main problems of cooperation and, depending on the sections, committees, directions, bring constructive assistance in the implementation of the tasks set by our Women's Forum "Public Recognition". The forum is good, necessary, and there is already recognition for this in the international women's community. I would like to congratulate all women on International Women's Day and wish them peace, understanding, prosperity, smiles and, of course, good health.".
