Maxim Gushchin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of STAN Group LLC

The state program of the Russian Federation "Development of shipbuilding for 2013-2030" aims to increase the competitiveness of Russian shipbuilding and ensure full satisfaction of the needs of the state and domestic business in modern products shipbuilding. According to the development plan of the United Shipbuilding Corporation, civil shipbuilding should double its share in the world market by 2018, and military shipbuilding should take a leading position. The fulfillment of these tasks requires updating and increasing the production capacities of shipbuilding and ship repair enterprises in the shortest possible time.

The implementation of these plans is unthinkable without high-precision equipment capable of meeting all the needs of production - from tooling to processing non-standard and, above all, large-sized parts.

STAN Group has a powerful production base. Today, the Group, which already includes five leading machine tool factories, continues to strengthen its presence in the market. According to the Stankoinstrument association, the Group accounts for almost 40% of machine tool products manufactured in Russia. Highly qualified specialists of the STAN Group enterprises design, manufacture and support manufactured products throughout their entire life cycle.

Each plant of the Group has research and development departments that develop new types of equipment aimed both at solving specific technological problems of customers and in the future to compete with the world's leading machine tool manufacturers. The combined engineering divisions of the Group are able to create turnkey industrial infrastructure facilities.

Cooperation of the Group with leading universities in Russia, such as Moscow State Technical University. Bauman, MSTU "STANKIN", MATI, MAI, Tula state university and others, which makes it possible to attract leading scientists in the field of machine tool building and material processing, creates a scientific basis for material processing with the prospect of continuous development and expansion of applied technologies.

Comprehensive training programs offered by the Group include a whole range of activities - from general technical seminars to individual training for the customer's specialists on the entire range of equipment supplied, including training in working with CAD and CNC systems.

In the current economic and political conditions, the STAN Group sees its task not only in the development and production of modern equipment, but also in the implementation of system solutions that ensure the technological security of the state.

Solutions for the shipbuilding industry

Sheathing. High-performance manufacturing of high-quality surface ship plating parts is possible both on stand-alone straightening and molding presses, and on automated production lines based on them. Combining the correct presses with bending and rolling equipment makes it possible to more efficiently produce parts for complex areas of ship stern plating, bulbs, etc. Today, interest in this equipment show not only domestic shipyards, but also a number of shipyards from the Mediterranean countries.

Robust hull, set, deck and bulkheads. Heavy Longitudinal Milling Machining Center Series GCP allow processing large-sized slabs, frame and body-type parts, including the use of 5-axis milling and additional rotary tables. Machines of this type are easily scaled to the needs of the customer and his technological tasks. It is possible to use several movable portals or crossbars, which allows you to simultaneously perform operations on the processing of several sections of long parts and assemblies. Modern the lineup turning-milling carousel machining centers equipped with interchangeable cutting and milling heads, automatic tool magazine, automatic head magazine, as well as a highly efficient control system - is the basis for solving a number of technological problems in the shipbuilding industry related to the machining of bodies of revolution. Among others, details of the sections of the strong hull of submarines can be distinguished.

Heavy five-axis machining center portal type cnc model 200 0VHT, is capable of boring large-sized parts, cutting metal for welding large flat parts and pipe ends with a diameter of up to 1200mm. The machine is indispensable for the production of molds, dies, turbines, monowheels, the manufacture of models and other complex-shaped parts in five axes - three linear and two circular. Model CNC Horizontal Machining Center 30 00N, designed for machining the ends of bends of stamped and welded parts with diameters from 426 to 1420 mm, bending angles of 300, 450, 600 and 900 and wall thicknesses from 5 to 100 mm.

Cutting and welding of sheet metal is carried out by large-sized machines manufactured by the Stankotekh Production Center together with Plazmamash LLC. Thermal cutting machines are versatile and can be equipped with plasma, gas and laser cutters, as well as welding torches for automatic welding. The production of combined machines with plasma and gas burners makes it possible to cut any blanks from sheet metal of any thickness with high accuracy and quality of the end surface of the cut parts, as well as with the possibility of cutting edges for welding at thicknesses up to 150 mm. Plasma and flame cutting machines are equipped with three-torch rotary blocks that allow cutting X, Y and V-shaped curved chamfers, which significantly reduces the cost of preparing parts for welding and increases cutting productivity.

For complex processing of body and base large-sized parts, including welded ones, made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, a horizontal boring machining center is ideal IS1400PMF4 with movable stand. For the production of a fairing by order of JSC "Admiralty Shipyards", a machine was proposed in a special design IR1400PMF4.180 with the diameter of the boring spindle increased to 180 mm, the stroke of the boring retractable spindle along the Z axis increased to 1500 mm and the IRS3500 rotary table with increased dimensions.

Horizontal boring machines IS2A636F1 delivered to OJSC "Admiralty Shipyards" and FSUE MP "Zvyozdochka" have boring spindle diameter of 125 mm and an integrated faceplate with a diameter of 800 mm, which provides productive processing of surfaces of large diameters using a radial support. Modification IS2A637 has a reinforced boring spindle with a diameter of 160 mm without a built-in faceplate. The machine provides for the possibility of using mounted tool heads and a mounted faceplate.

Propellers, power units, rotary mechanisms. In addition to longitudinal milling machining centers of portal type (OTsP series), universal turning-milling-boring machining centers of the series MUM with movable column according to the project Hungarian company EXCEL-CSEPEL. Machining centers MUM adapt to the tasks of the shipbuilding industry with maximum flexibility. The milling and boring version of the machines is excellent for processing large and heavy parts of power units of ships and hull parts for various purposes. Instead of a heavy-duty rotary table, MUM machines can be equipped with a turning part of the machine. The ability to process parts with a length of 12,000 - 18,000 mm, a diameter of up to 2,000 mm and a weight of up to 85,000 kg, installed and automatically replaced cutting, milling, knurling and grinding heads, turn MUM machining centers into a complete solution for highly efficient processing of propeller shafts of surface and underwater ships.

For propeller shafts, medium and heavy lathes are also suitable, with machining lengths up to 28 meters: 16K40-5, 1H65-10, 1Н65-16, RT950F3-10, RT950F3-28,RT959-16. These machines are equipped with boring boring bars, grinding and milling heads, turrets of horizontal and vertical execution at the request of the customer. Possessing sufficiently high rigidity, the machines are guaranteed to provide the processing of shafts with the required accuracy.

Heavy unique equipment has always been the pride of the Heavy Machine Tool Plant in Kolomna. Today, the plant can also offer shipbuilders both new unique equipment for processing propellers of surface and submarine ships, and overhaul and modernization of previously produced machines, such as special milling machines KU350MF3 and KU351MF3, special grinding machines KU334, KU372, KU398 and KU399. In the context of severe restrictions on the supply of dual-use technologies to Russia and the state policy on the maximum reduction in the presence foreign companies in especially sensitive technological chains, this equipment becomes, without exaggeration, indispensable.

For processing propeller blades today a horizontal machining center is in production ISA1250PMF4 with an angular swivel head, designed for high-speed and high-performance 5-coordinate complex machining of parts with dimensions BxL = 800x2000 mm, complex spatial configuration of steel, cast iron, non-ferrous metals.

For processing details gas turbine engines , including working blades made of nickel alloys, compressor blades made of titanium alloys and face teeth on the disks and shafts of turbines, deep grinding machines of the series SXS, with the possibility of processing parts with a diameter of up to 600 mm and a length of up to 1000 mm in almost one fastening.

A high-speed 5-axis horizontal machining center will be in demand for the processing of highly complex parts such as blades, impellers, engine parts and other products, as well as for the manufacture of complex molds. IS800-Globus.

For drilling, boring, honing holes of various shafts, including those made of high-alloy steels, hydraulic cylinders for submarines, as well as processing deep holes in workpieces with a diameter of up to 630 mm and a length of up to 12000 mm, including for artillery weapons, it is advisable to use drilling and boring machines of the series PT28...-PT29… offered in various designs. The PT295112 machine was made by order of the British BTA, while the PT2941-4 model was delivered to India.

The rotary mechanisms of artillery and other rotary turret installations are often designed on the principle of transmitting torque from the engine through a gear train. For the manufacture of large-sized gears, vertical gear hobbing machines of the series 5A-CNC with a maximum diameter of the processed wheel more than 3000 mm. It is also possible to manufacture special carousel hobbing machines for the manufacture of gears of a larger diameter.

The equipment presented in the article gives only a general picture of the technological capabilities of the enterprises and divisions of the Group, addressed to the shipbuilding industry. The real potential of the STAN Group, the positive dynamics of its production indicators are the key to successful development and promotion of domestic technologies in the Russian industry.

Maxim Gushchin: "Our competence is high-precision and unique machines"

We met with Maxim Gushchin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of STAN, on the sidelines of the Army-2017 International Military-Technical Forum, where STAN is the headliner of not only domestic, but, perhaps, the world machine tool industry, along with other enterprises of the military-industrial complex demonstrated its latest achievements.

– Maksim Valeryevich, an indisputable fact: now the STAN company is the leader of the Russian machine tool industry. How was this achieved?

– Over the five years of the company's existence, we have really conquered our niche in the market. Let's turn to history: we acquired the first plant in September 2012 in the small Bashkir town of Sterlitamak. We entered a loss-making enterprise at a difficult moment, when production was on the verge of collapse, and employees were on the verge of layoffs. And yet, in a short time, we managed to breathe new life into production and restart the plant. For the first year of work under our management, the once unprofitable enterprise made a profit of 503 million rubles. Let me emphasize: nothing like this has ever happened in the entire history of this plant! In 2013, the company's assets were replenished by the Kolomna Heavy Machine Tool Plant, in 2014 by the Ryazan Machine Tool Plant and the Ivanovo Heavy Machine Tool Plant. Moscow plant " Grinding Machines» joined STAN at the beginning of 2015, in 2016 a site was opened in Kimry based on machine-building plant, and in 2017, Donpressmash LLC became part of STAN. Thus, today our company has seven production sites, which in total occupy 50% of the market for metalworking equipment manufactured in Russia, and for a narrow range - 80-90%. In a word, we bought out the key plants of the industry, retained people at the enterprises. Saved production potential. And now, despite the situation that has developed in the industry, we see one of our key tasks as increasing the competencies of designers and training personnel.

- Which strategic objective was set by you five years ago when you started the business?

- Bring the factories we have acquired out of bankruptcy, consolidate assets, and most importantly - save people. And provide orders to enterprises. Which, in fact, happened. We further connected our designers and our customers, who
directly interact with each other, and this model has become very attractive: some say what they want, others figure out how to more effectively fulfill the voiced wishes. Here, for example, the STC P80 machine, a five-coordinate machining center, or, more simply, a portal machine, is the fruit of such an alliance. In general, meeting all the requirements of our customers is the fundamental principle of our work.

- What are the current priorities in the company's activities?

- A significant part of STAN's clients are involved in the military-industrial sector, although purely civilian customers cannot be ruled out either. It's just that in the defense industry, technical re-equipment is taking place on a larger scale. Accordingly, our products are more in demand. Therefore, our benchmark is the needs of the country's military-industrial complex. What are these needs? Qualitatively and quickly produce some specific part that our machines can do. Initially, we focused on the equipment that is manufactured by foreign manufacturers. At the same time, we were able to quickly restore both production and design work in our assets. Therefore, now the samples of our equipment are in no way inferior to foreign samples, and somewhere they are superior to foreign analogues, which is confirmed by our customers by the volume of those orders that we have. Our factories produce from 2 to 10 new models of equipment per year. This is dictated by the emergence of new technologies, new approaches, new requirements of our customers. Now we are no longer just supplying machines, but supplying, in fact, complex solutions: it is better and faster to make this or that part. To do better than our Russian and foreign colleagues is our priority. Our designers delight customers with the appearance of new designs.

– What is the innovative product range of STAN? Is it possible to say that some of the equipment you make is unique on the Russian market in general?

- Undoubtedly. For example, our Sterlitamak plant produces the STC P80 portal machine I have already mentioned - this is a truly unique machining center. Its capabilities allow processing difficult-to-cut materials at maximum cutting conditions. In addition, there is equipment that allows the production of products with a height of 20 meters, under 1000 tons in weight - no one in the world does anything like this. We have surpassed the world machine-tool leaders in a number of positions. In the Kolomna line, which Roscosmos traditionally uses in its work, there are products that are analogues
which do not exist in the world. And all this thanks to our specialists, many of whom came from the Soviet industrial school. And with the help of measures state support we have kept them. Our factories produce products of standard lines, which enterprises in Russia and other countries of the world have mastered and offer. But there are things that can be called exclusively our developments. Honing equipment in vertical design, for example, is not made by anyone but us. Our Moscow plant for the manufacture of profile and precision grinding machines has no analogues in Russia and competes very successfully with the world leaders in this industry. And the Sterlitamak plant manufactures special machines for processing gas turbine engine blades. There are fewer such manufacturers in the world than there are fingers on the hand. We are constantly improving these and other types of technology. This allows us to successfully compete on a global level.

- In order to stay at the heights that you spoke about, very qualified personnel are needed. And this is the most acute problem for Russia. How is the HR issue solved at STAN?

- I will be brief: we grow! Right now, together with the Moscow Stankin University, we intend to create large-scale programs to link the people whom this university trains to the place of work, that is, to our enterprises. Similar cooperation agreements have been signed with Moscow Polytechnic University and Bashkir State University. Our assets employ 2,300 people, of which 380 are designers. This is a serious production and design indicator. Our reason for pride. And in terms of personnel training, we intend to build partnerships with specialized colleges.

– Your products stand out with their design. Black colors with gold accents are very eye-catching. Can we say that you are promoting a new image of the Russian machine tool industry?

- That's what we're talking about. However, this design solution is also functional. Part of the investment was directed to the development of a new cabinet protection - this is precisely the functional side of the design. Such methods have been used by our foreign colleagues for a long time, we had to prepare a definite answer, and it was a success - we clearly caught this by the number of visitors to our stand at exhibitions.

– The STAN company unites, as you have already said, seven major Russian productions. Can you say that your company is a socially responsible business?

- Undoubtedly. A small fact: at the machine tool factories where we came, there were situations when before us salaries were not paid for 4-5 months. Now the mechanism for paying wages is adjusted like clockwork, day to day. We operate and social projects. In particular, under the STAN contract with PJSC Tupolev, we plan to supply several dozens of machining centers and machine tools for various purposes for their training center. This is important for staff training.

"STAN" today

  • The largest Russian integrated machine tool company
  • Over 50% domestic market production of metalworking machine tools
  • Design, production and service of modern machine tool equipment
  • 7 production sites in the regions of Russia

- Maxim Valerievich, you are the chairman of the Committee " Business Russia» on heavy engineering and machine tool building. What issues, in your opinion, could accelerate the development of the domestic machine tool industry?

– At several meetings of our Committee, we adopted whole line key decisions that, in my opinion, can seriously help the industry. Now we are preparing documents that, signed by the head of Delovaya Rossiya Alexei Repik, we will send to Russian government. They have two suggestions. The first is the issue of improving tenders, which today are regulated by the Federal Law Nos. 44 and 223, where, in our opinion, the requirements for tenderers are spelled out very formally. As a result, half a thousand companies appeared on the market that do not produce anything, but win tenders, and later receive money and often simply dissolve. In addition, for a number of years, while the industry was in decline, many companies were grouped around it, dealing exclusively with the supply of foreign equipment. Now the market is changing, and recent suppliers have suddenly become domestic machine tool manufacturers who are eager to become partners with Korean and Chinese companies. Companies that are not going to create engineering centers and engage in new developments are trying to enter the field of the military-industrial complex. Their task is to build the machine as simply and cheaply as possible and sell it to the consumer, without worrying about quality. Accordingly, there is a direct threat to the image of the real Russian machine tool industry. Second point: if Russian market Asian manufacturers will come, who will pass through the formal signs of localization and will get into tenders, our "defense industry" will live on Asian machines, and by no means on domestic ones. What is the way out? We believe that the institution of conscientious suppliers and manufacturers, which should appear in our country as soon as possible, should stand in the way of such a development of events. The Committee came up with an initiative to create this institution, which would cut off shell companies through an accreditation system. This is the only way to restore order in the industry.

– What is the strategy further development STAN company?

- When we entered the industry, domestic machine tool builders occupied 2-3 percent of the total volume of our domestic market. Today this figure has exceeded 10 percent. Our goal is to close 40% of the market by 2020. And by 2023 - already 60 percent. Our competence is high-precision, unique, complex machines; the production of high-tech equipment, which, like air, is needed, first of all, by the domestic military-industrial complex. At the recently held in Moscow, the largest international industrial exhibition "Metalworking-2017", STAN signed a number of strategically important cooperation agreements with PJSC "UAC", "TRV-Engineering", USC, UEC and Russian Helicopters. It is planned to supply more than 200 STAN machining centers for enterprises that are part of these holdings. In a word, we intend to adhere to the policy of implementing the most daring and ambitious plans, contributing to the creation of Russia's technological independence.
