Internet speed measurement byfly. ByFly internet speed test

The ByFly Internet provider from Beltelecom is the most popular in the Republic of Belarus, so the question “how to find out the ByFly Internet speed” is asked by many of its users.

Periodically, you have to control the speed of the Internet, because some providers may underestimate the flow or there may be some interruptions in the data supply. In particular, ByFly has a large user load, so traffic can be lost. Please note that the contracts of many providers describe the speed “up to 2-5 MB”, but nowhere is the mandatory minimum specified. This issue has already been raised by network users, but the final result was not given. How to check the Internet speed of Byfly and other providers, this article will try to answer.

What verification methods exist?

  • Launch site from online test Internet speed control;
  • Uninterrupted speed tracking is carried out by a special program that can be installed by WebDoctor specialists.

The verification procedure will not take much time, but will bring many benefits. Before starting the test, you need to close all the surrounding programs that can download something and pull the speed, for example, torrent, Internet TV, Skype. V different time day visit is different. How more people, the slower the speed. In the morning and in the evening, when everyone returns from work, the Internet is visited by the maximum number of people.

Online speed test

The most popular website for checking internet speed is www.speedtest.net, immediately upon entering, you should click "Start verification".

The test indicates the speed of receiving and transmitting data. The provider Byfly presents an online test on its website that gives the same results and its verification will not be any particular problem.

Internet speed check program

Check internet speed you can use the free software Net Traffic which is available on the Internet. After all the program components are installed, download several files and control the result. Moreover, all data is saved, they can then be viewed in the appropriate section.

While downloading a file from the Internet, even in the uTorrent program, the download speed is visible. If the test showed that the ByFly Internet speed is less than that promised in the contract, you should contact the operator.

The same result can be affected by the characteristics of the computer, the presence of viruses on it, as well as the reliability of the communication line. Of course, a computer with less than 1 GB RAM and less than 2.5 GHz processor will perform worse. ADSL connection technology is fading into the background, many providers are now trying to lay fiber, which guarantees greater speed and lower cost of service. Perhaps then you will not have to regularly monitor the speed of the Internet and call the operator every time.

Hello, friends! Today we will measure the speed of the Internet, as well as analyze a number of related issues. How to find out the speed of the Internet, test the network and determine its functionality? Why is the Internet connection speed not as advertised?

First, let's look at the reasons when the Internet speed declared by the provider differs from the real one. Why is this happening?

As a rule, in most cases, the reason lies in the problems of the end user, that is, in you and me. Outdated hardware or software, viruses, incorrect settings - these are just a few of the possible reasons leading to a decrease in speed. However, the user's problems do not exclude the fact of possible fraud on the part of the provider, that is, the company that provides Internet services.

Why is the Internet connection speed not as advertised?

Problems with the hardware you are using. An outdated or incorrectly configured router, its outdated software(old firmware), conflict between driver and network card.

To find out if the router is really the cause of the low speed, the network cable must be connected directly to the computer during testing (for DOCSIS subscribers - directly to the modem). Any additional computers should be disabled.

Presence of malicious code (virus) in the system. Malicious software for its distribution is capable of sending its own copies automatically at a speed of several hundred messages per minute, thereby affecting the resources used and the final speed of the Internet connection by switching to itself the largest possible part of the channel.

Open Task Manager and check the Network tab. If the Internet is not used and there is no update for the operating system and other software, this value is always zero.

Conditionally malicious code, which is not harmful to the user, but has a negative impact on speed, includes various toolbars (Yandex.Bar, Mail.Ru, Ask.com).

Problems on the side of the provider. Line load, which is more relevant for companies providing services over 3G networks. This is especially noticeable in the evening, when the maximum number of people use one line. Factors such as the remoteness of the provider's server, connection quality, etc. also affect.

Provider scam. By fraud, I primarily mean the deliberate restriction a certain kind traffic. For example, a peer-to-peer network (file sharing, BitTorrent).

As you can see, a variety of factors, and sometimes a combination of them, can affect the speed of Internet access. Of course, there are many more of these factors, but we have analyzed the most popular ones.

It is important to understand that the company that provides you with Internet services always declares the maximum possible speed bar, and, as a rule, is silent to what level it can go down. But before accusing the provider of fraud, you should rule out problems on your part.

Speed units

Before we start measuring speed, a few words about the theory.

Internet connection speed is measured in kilo/mega bits. For example, the speed declared by my provider is 80 Mbps.

Download speed is measured in kilo/mega bytes.

The speed of downloading files is about 8 times (1 byte = 8 bits) less than the connection speed itself. Again, in my example, with a speed declared by the provider of 80 Mbps, the download speed will be about 10 Mbps.

You can clearly see such an Internet connection speed, for example, in a torrent client. To do this, you need to find a popular torrent file with a large number of seeds and see the download speed. By the way, what is a torrent and how to use it, you can read on.

How to check internet speed?

The easiest and most obvious testing option is to use special online services. To date, there are many similar services that will measure the speed of your Internet in a matter of seconds.

How does the online service work?

Internet connection speed is measured by the information transmitted from your PC to the service and back. Next, the average value is calculated per unit of time. According to most online services, the result error is no more than 10%.

Preparatory work

To obtain the most reliable information, a number of conditions must be met:

1. Close all programs and tabs, except for the one on which the service for checking Internet speed is located.
2. If you are downloading something through a browser, download manager, torrent client, then wait for the download to finish or stop it.
3. During the check, Windows and (or) other software should not be updated. The value on the "Network" tab in the "Task Manager" should be zero.
4. Turn off Windows Firewall.

Since one of the test servers may be out of order or overloaded during the test, it is REQUIRED to perform the test at least 3 times. Multiple checks may produce different results.

This is quite understandable due to the numerous factors affecting the test. Therefore, I repeat, we measure the connection speed several times and take the average value for the result. Now that we have dealt with the theory, let's move on to practice.

What services can be used to check the speed?

For testing, I chose the 4 most popular services:

Let's consider each of them in more detail. By the way, the check should be performed in the Internet Explorer browser. Alternative browsers do not always display correctly in the ping test to the server.

I foresee questions, what is Ping and what does it affect? Ping (ping) is the time it takes for a packet of information to travel from a specific server to your computer and back. In other words, the shorter this time, the better. Let's move on to the next service.

Yandex. Internetometer

A fairly simple and popular service from Yandex. You will need to follow the link http://yandex.ru/internet and click the "Measure" button.

The service displays not only speed, but also user data: IP address, browser version, screen resolution, which is very useful in some cases.

Speed testing goes like this: Yandex downloads/uploads a test file several times and calculates the average value.

As you can see, the incoming connection speed was 71.81 Mbps, and outgoing - 37.53 Mbps, which in my case is quite acceptable. Let me remind you that the speed of the Internet connection declared by my provider is up to 80 Mbps.

2ip.ru

In my case, the incoming speed was 79.47 Mbps, and the outgoing speed was 22.29 Mbps. The indicators slightly differ from the Internetometer service and are as close as possible to the speed declared by the provider of 80 Mbps.

MainSpy.ru

As you can see, in any case, in my example, the test, which I repeated three times and at different times of the day, showed a speed exceeding the declared limit.

Drawing conclusions

In my case, the average Internet connection speed completely coincides with the declared speed of the provider - up to 80 Mbps. Moreover, in the Speedtest.net and MainSpy.ru services, the results exceeded this figure by 16% and 23%, respectively. We attribute this to a possible error, which, it is worth noting, nevertheless exceeded the promised 10%.

All tested services (with the exception of MainSpy.ru) showed acceptable results. Most accurately, Yandex.Internetometer and 2ip.ru managed to do this.

Hello everyone! In this publication, we will touch on a very important topic for Belarusian Internet users. And we'll talk about how to check internet speed ByFly.

Why is it so important? Yes, if only because the above trademark is a monopoly on all territories of Belarus and, accordingly, it is under its wing that the largest number of subscribers is located.

So, friends, if anyone has not yet read ours, which also talks about the main and important nuances when checking the speed of a tariff plan, then it is highly recommended to do it right now.

Now we are moving on to speed testing. Oh, my dear provider, do not fall face down. And the first service that catches the eye of the author of the article is a specialized one, so to speak, from ByFly itself.

Therefore, we go to the site at test.byfly.by and see the following interface:

For those who have read the previous post on this topic, the "Begin Test" button will be very familiar. After all, this is no development of its own, but simply borrowed functionality from the popular speedtest.net resource.

Well, okay, on the one hand, this is good, because they won’t be able to deceive if they didn’t do it themselves. Click on the treasured button and wait for the results:

As you can see, everything is according to the selected tariff with an indicator of 10 Mbps. incoming speed. But then the author noticed a small text at the bottom that says that now we, it turns out, have checked the connection speed in the privileged zone.

And to measure it outside the guest resources, you need to follow the link to the site with the address test2.byfly.by.Well, it's not difficult for us to do that either. Go ahead and start the verification process again:

Well, what can I say, quite good. At least for now, ByFly's internet speed data is consistent. But for the purity of the experiment, let's use some other online service.

ByFly is a broadband Internet access from the Belarusian provider Beltelecom. It is reliable and available in all cities of the country, but the speed of the Internet connection does not always suit its users. It is worth understanding some of the causes of low speed and eliminating them.

To get started, you just need to call technical support at 123 and report a low Internet speed. If it really does not correspond to the one declared in the tariff plan, the wizard will remotely configure your connection. But this does not always work, as the problem may not be related to problems at the provider's substation. Check the functional settings of the antivirus. It may be specifically blocking access to protect against malicious sites.

Most likely you are using a standard modem from Beltelecom. Promsvyaz modems are not of good quality. Especially considering that they are given to users for free and only for temporary use. Try this test:

  • turn off the modem and let it cool down;
  • after that, turn it on again and go to the Internet;
  • if during the first 10 minutes the speed suits you, then all the shortcomings of the speed lie in the operation of the modem.

Take your passport, modem and head to the Beltelecom center. They will replace your modem with a new one for free. However, if the problems persist, you should consider purchasing your own modem.

Try to determine if the speed of the Internet connection does not depend on the time of day. The busiest time is between 4pm and 12pm. Call 123 and report the problem. The number of connected users to the substation should not affect the quality of service. Experts will resolve the issue.

After all of the above, are you still not satisfied with the quality? The only option left is to change the tariff plan. For additional money, you will connect unlimited Internet with the required speed of receiving and transmitting information. The highest speeds are offered by tariff plans "Domosed Ultra" (reception / transmission speed up to 8192/512 Kbps) and "Super Homesed" (reception / transmission speed up to 6144/512 Kbps). After changing the tariff plan on the official website of the provider, it is recommended to call technical support and report it, because the correct change in speed may occur with errors and delays.

Do not overload the modem with constant work, turn it off at night and contact technical support in case of problems - this is the key to an uninterrupted and fast Internet connection.

Byfly is a high-quality and reliable Internet, available to subscribers in all cities of the Republic of Belarus - as stated on the official website.

However, many Internet users from byfly are dissatisfied with the quality of the services provided, as well as the quality of the technical support service. If your byfly internet slows down, you get technical support and chat with cute girls. As part of their knowledge, they suggest that you check your settings (usually everything is fine with them) and assure you that everything should work. As a rule, after a dialogue with the service 123, the problem with the Internet remains .....

Consider the reasons for the slow Internet from byfly, not related to the settings that are discussed in the service technical support Beltelecom.

There are many sites that offer to check the speed of your Internet connection. It is definitely not worth focusing on the data of such sites. They show the connection speed of your computer with a specific server located at a specific point on our planet. There are many such servers and the speed of communication with each of them will vary, because. between you and these servers, in addition to byfly, there are many intermediaries in data transfer. To test the speed of a communication channel from byfly, you should use a test file located directly on Beltelecom's servers. Keep in mind that Internet speed can be expressed as a channel speed (up to 1024 Kb / s for the Domosed tariff plan) and download speed (up to about 120 Kb / s for the Domosed tariff plan).

If you are connecting to the internet byfly for the first time:

  • check your windows firewall settings.
  • if using Windows 7 go to Network and Sharing Center. By default, your network is set up as "Public Network" - change the state to "Enterprise Network".
  • For Windows 7, run the troubleshooting wizard - you may be able to fix a problem with network settings that byfly tech support did not tell you about.
  • check the settings of the antivirus program - whether access to the network is blocked.
  • When you connect to the Internet for the first time, your computer software may automatically start checking and downloading updates - which can take a long time and will significantly slow down the speed of your Internet through browsers and download managers. This problem does not require a special solution, because will disappear by itself after the update download is complete.

In the process of using the Internet, you began to notice that byfly slows down:

As a rule, the byfly user uses the equipment provided by Beltelecom. For temporary use, you have been provided with a Promsvyaz modem. The first month or two... everything suited you, and then the speed of the Internet became noticeably lower, the download of files is unusually slow.

To get started, conduct a simple test: turn off the modem, wait until the Promsvyaz modem cools down to room temperature. Turn it on and check the speed. If during the first 5-15 minutes the speed is normal, and then it drops sharply (in proportion to the increase in modem temperature), then the problem of slow byfly lies in the shortcomings of the modem. Repeated repetition of this experiment with the same result with other parameters unchanged will allow us to make an unambiguous conclusion that the Promsvyaz modem needs to be replaced.

If as a result of the modem cooling test the Internet speed has not changed, try to determine if the byfly speed does not depend on the time of day and day of the week. During the period from 16:00 to 24:00 on weekdays, activity byfly users in the residential areas of the city increases, which leads to an increase in the load on the communication line. If you noted that your Internet slows down only during such periods, you should contact the Beltelecom administration (a call to 123 will most likely not change anything) with a claim and a demand to solve the problem that has arisen. when connecting new subscribers to its substation, Beltelecom must take into account the increasing load, and this cannot be the basis for providing you with a low-quality service.

How to replace the Promsvyaz modem?

Before replacing the Promsvyaz modem, you should decide: change Promsvyaz to Promsvyaz for free or buy something more reliable?

To replace the Promsvyaz modem with a similar one, a person who has entered into an agreement for the provision of the byfly service should contact Beltelecom with a passport, where, most likely, without asking the reason, you will promptly replace the modem with a new one. Lack of interest in the reason for the replacement leads to the conclusion that they know it, and you are far from the first to make such a replacement. After connecting a new modem, the Internet speed will be restored .... But after some time, byfly Internet slows down again. Repeat the refrigeration test. With a positive result, the problem is again: change Promsvyaz to Promsvyaz for free or buy another manufacturer.

The most common (according to the author, at the time of this writing) budget reliable modem can be the D-Link 2640U or D-Link 2740U modem.

If you become the owner of your own modem, then the kind technical support service of byfly, when asked to help set it up, will answer: "We only set up our modems." Configuring D-Link 2640U, 2740U modems Setting up other models with a similar menu is carried out in a similar way.

You yourself changed the tariff plan through the user account, but the Internet speed did not change

To correct the situation, you need to call the 123 service and inform about the addition of a new service to the line. The operators will make the necessary adjustments to the settings of your communication channel and everything will work as expected, provided that before that your Internet from Byfly did not slow down.

Internet connection speed variability is a hot topic for most users. Clients of ByFly, a popular Internet provider in the Republic of Belarus, are no exception.

The actual connection speed rarely matches the one indicated in the tariff plan. This happens because the provider indicates the maximum possible speed instead of the average. In addition, technical problems are possible, for example, with the equipment on the server or the backbone cable. The time of day can also have an effect (faster at night and slower during the day). To determine the cause of the problem with downloading content, you need to check the speed and stability of the Internet.

Ways to check internet speed by fly

There are many online tests on the network that allow you to diagnose the speed and quality of data transfer. Often, providers themselves post such programs and recommend using them by default. An alternative may be programs that require installation on a computer. File loaders can perform the same function, but their information content will be limited.

Attention: In order to obtain reliable data, it is strongly recommended during testing to stop all updates and disable programs that use traffic: Skype, Torrent, other browsers, online players and radio.

Method 1: ByFly online test

This method should be used first. The test is maximally optimized for ByFly networks, and you can find a link to it on the official website of the company.

Method 2: Service Speedtest.net

Speedtest is the most popular option used all over the world. Its advantages: accessibility, information content and versatility (for any Internet connection). Having a history of results will help you keep track of the speed trend.

Method 3: Speedtest4free program

The advantages of already installed programs for measuring speed from online services are: constant readiness for launch, wide functionality, the ability to work in the background. Speedtest4free stands out for its high measurement accuracy and availability (completely free). The only negative is only the English-language interface.

To check the speed of the Internet connection as accurately as possible, we recommend that you stop downloading files, online radio and YouTube while the speedtest is in progress. For 100% certainty, repeat the speedtest by pressing the button again.

Run test

What is Ping, Jitter, Upload and Download?

Through uploading and downloading the file, the service allows you to accurately determine the real speed of the Internet connection of your provider. The measurement results will show:

  1. Incoming speed (Download speed) - the speed of receiving data from the Internet.
  2. Upload speed - the speed of uploading data to the Internet.
  3. Ping (PING) - time, information transfer to the server and back.
  4. An IP address is the unique address of your computer on the network.

What factors affect connection speed?

The connection speed directly depends on the type of connection you are using. To date, the most popular types of connection are:

  • ADSL (Leased Line) - This data transfer technology uses a telephone line. This technology separates the frequencies used for data transmission from those used for voice transmission. Thereby phone line free, even with an active connection.
  • FTTB (fiber optic cable) - an optical cable is taken as the basis, which is brought to the switch in the subscriber's building, and then a twisted pair is already pulled from it. Today it is the most popular connection method.
  • 3G/4G ( Mobile Internet) - this type of connection is used in mobile networks mobile operators. Used to connect laptops and computers USB modems, and for networking - 3G / 4G routers.

As a rule, there are usually no problems with a cable connection, which cannot be said about the wireless connection method. The more devices connected to the router at the same time, the more likely it is to slow down. We advise you to always change the factory password WiFi networks offered by the manufacturer to a more reliable one.

In addition to hardware, software can also affect the speed, which significantly uses your traffic.

If the speed is low and differs by more than 10% from the declared one, we recommend taking another measurement or using similar online service ami and applications, such as speedtest or Yandex internetometer. If the result remains unchanged, we recommend contacting the provider to find out the reasons.

How to improve connection speed on computer and phone?

Depending on the type of Internet connection you use, recommendations for increasing it will differ. But there are also basic things for any kind of connection.

The first and fastest way is to reboot the router (router). Then re-measure the speed of the Internet - our speed test is free, so you can do it indefinitely.

If the reason for the slowing Internet was an independent reconfiguration of the router, there is only one way out - reset the settings to factory settings. A little later we will publish a detailed article on how to do this.

Also common cause slow internet is the use of various VPN (VPN) services (especially free ones). Very often they underestimate the speed to 5 MB / sec. You can easily check this, just turn off the VPN and see the results. If the indicators correspond to the tariff, then you need to change the VPN.

If the pages of the site open slowly, then first of all you need to optimize the speed of your browser. Most often, you just need to not open too many tabs (more than 10 tabs is already too much for older devices). We recommend that you clean your browser history regularly. And of course, you need to remove unused plugins and extensions.

On a phone and laptop with a Wi-Fi connection

On laptops and phones, a WiFi connection is mainly used, so first of all we go to the router settings and select the 802.11ac standard, if this is not the case, then select 802.11n. Ideally, this should be done based on the characteristics of the wifi module of your device, but in 90% of cases this advice will work for you.

On a computer with a cable connection

On computers running the Windows operating system, by default there is a limit on the use of the Internet channel of 80%. Therefore, you can safely remove this restriction using the gpedit.msc utility. In Windows 10, you can simply find it through the search, and in Windows 7, open the Run program (Win + R) and insert the name of the utility. In the window that opens, go to the "Limit reserved bandwidth" tab and there in the "Bandwidth limit" field set the value to "0".

What is the optimal speed for games, video, skype?

Many people wonder how to determine the required minimum Internet speed. The answer is simple - it all depends on what purposes you plan to use it for.

If the Internet for you is just to sit on social networks, then you will not need more than 3 Mbps.

Can't imagine life without watching videos online? Less than 20 Mbps is not even worth considering - just waste your time and nerves!

love to play Online Games? In this case, speed is not so important. Much more important is the quality of the connection, namely a small Ping (preferably up to 10 ms) and no packet loss.

What determines the "speed of the Internet"

The Internet is a huge network of computers and servers that are connected by communication channels. They have different throughput, but they are combined general rules receiving and transmitting information, the so-called Internet protocols. The way data travels on the Web is also constantly changing. This introduces instability into the Internet, so subscribers can often be sure of only one thing: if the server with the desired site is working, then you can get to it, but how fast is the question.

If some sites open quickly and some slowly, then the problem is on the site you are opening - it means it is heavily loaded or it has speed limits.

Check the speed of opening pages on sites byfly.by mail.ru yandex.ru google.by If these sites open quickly, but yours does not, then the problem is in your site, and not in the speed of connection to the network.

The Internet provider controls only the last section of the network from the subscriber's equipment to its equipment, it cannot control the channels and routes of traffic outside its network. high speed the provider can guarantee only when downloading information from its server, content portals and internal trackers. However, even here the speed may decrease. For example, in cases where several users want to download a popular movie at the same time. Then the load on the sending server will increase, and the speed will decrease.

It often happens that the problem that affects the speed is not in the operator itself, but in the subscriber's computer. One of these problems, imperceptible to an inexperienced user, are computer viruses. Many of them are set up to establish shady connections with so-called botnets. They are a collection of personal computers connected by a virus into a single network. As a rule, it is controlled by the hackers who wrote the malicious program. Such networks can be used in different ways, from making money to massive information attacks, regarded as network terrorism. All these actions somehow consume a part of the user's Internet traffic, taking away the speed from useful processes. Less dangerous viruses may simply be engaged in sending spam to various addresses via mail or social networks. The external effect is the same decrease in the apparent connection speed.

However, this problem has a solution and, moreover, a very simple one. Firewalls perform connection control functions personal computer to the global web. With their help, you can at any time get acquainted with all Internet processes in which the PC takes part. There is also the other side of the coin. Incorrect firewall settings can by themselves take a significant portion of the machine's power, reducing traffic speed. The use of these programs requires a preliminary acquaintance with them and some work skills. No software can protect a computer if the user does not learn how to use it correctly. After all, the determining link in the chain of any processes is the owner of the computer.

It is also not uncommon to find incorrect settings operating system. Often the problem can be solved simply by installing new drivers for the network card. Sometimes it's a matter of inept handling of the programs for setting hidden system parameters. In the end, the speed may be limited by the program or site used.

Thus, problems with connection speed are not always purely technical in nature. To adequately assess the situation and eliminate possible problems on their own, the user should simply raise the general level of literacy in handling a personal computer.

For many, it is not a secret that the maximum speed of the Internet is determined by tariff plan your internet provider. It may be Rostelecom, Beeline, ByFly and others.

When a contract for the provision of Internet communication services is concluded, it clearly states the speed at which you will be provided with Internet access.

But it is not uncommon for an end user to enter into an agreement for one speed, but in fact receive another one, lower than the one specified in the agreement.

If you have any doubts about real speed Internet connection or you just want to check it, we recommend that you use the following online services:

www.speedtest.net - The largest free online internet speed test service

After going to the site, which will automatically detect your provider, as well as your "white" or as it is also called the external ip-address, to start checking the Internet speed, you need to click the "Start" button.

In this figure, “download” is the receive speed, and “download” is the upload speed.

For users from Belarus who are served by the ByFly provider, we offer to measure the speed of the Internet with the service that the provider itself offers. This . Although some may doubt the objectivity and honesty of the service from the provider itself, nevertheless, no fraud on his part was noticed.

In a short time, the results will be in front of you. Download - download speed, Upload - upload speed.

The results of the Internet speed test service - http://test2.byfly.by

This service can be used not only by ByFly subscribers, but also by anyone else, regardless of the provider.

It is worth noting that if you check the Internet speed when connecting to a router via Wi-Fi, then the speeds may be noticeably lower than those declared by your provider. This is due to the fact that the losses go after the router. The farther your device from which you measure the Internet connection speed is further from WiFi router, the more the test data will be distorted for the worse!

In order to minimize the accuracy of the test results to the maximum, it is recommended to do the test when connected by wire, or be right next to the router itself.
