How to connect ByFly WiFi: prerequisites required

Finally, you should make sure that the laptop or desktop computer has a WiFi wireless module, that the appropriate drivers are installed for it, and that it is working properly. You yourself understand that without the presence of such a module in the system and the drivers installed for it, we can talk about wireless connection do not have to. Separately, note that on some laptop models, communication can be enabled by a special switch on the side panels, keyboard shortcuts using FN, or in some other way. The default configuration uses admin as the username and password. Some users advise to maintain a longer interval (about 15 minutes), but I think this is not necessary.

At this stage, the question of whether it comes down to the following: you will need to enter the login and password that were specified in the contract. Further, which is very important, you need to set activation in the Bridge Inetrface field (check the Activated item).

Similar actions are performed for the Default Route line with the on-demand reconnect setting set to 30 minutes.

Save the changes and go to the Wireless tab. Now setting up WiFi ByFly (“Promsvyaz” modem is just taken as an example) involves entering the following parameters:

• activate Access Point;
• set Broadcast SSID to Yes;
• in the SSID network name field, enter any arbitrary name;
• in the authentication type, select PSK2-WPA;
• in the Pre-shared key field, enter the invented password for accessing the connection;
• save the changes by pressing the Save button.

System settings

In theory, after all the operations done, both the connection and the network should work. But it also happens that the operating system automatically installed settings does not perceive. In this case, the question of how to connect ByFly WiFi will come down to changing some parameters of the network adapter.

To do this, you will need to log in to the network and sharing management section, which is located in the standard "Control Panel" (it can also be called with the ncpa.cpl command from the "Run" console).

Here you need to select the desired network connection and go to the section on changing the properties of the network adapter. In the network properties, select the IPv4 protocol settings (as a rule, the fourth version is used in the main connection option, and not the sixth).

For the gateway we set 192.168.1.1, and for our own internal address we change the last digit to 2. Obtaining DNS addresses, if everything works, can be left on automatic receiving settings.

What to do if DNS is not working?

But what to do when the connection does not work even with automatically set settings? In most cases, the problem of how to connect ByFly WiFi can be solved by manually setting the DNS server addresses.

This refers to the indication of parameters from the configuration of fours and eights based on free Google services. Don't like this option? Use Yandex settings or just perform a full reset with clearing the DNS cache in the ipconfig /flushdns command line.

After executing the command, it is advisable to reboot the system and make sure that it is working.

Proxy Preference Issues

In passing, it is worth noting the fact that in some systems the use of proxy servers for local addresses is enabled by default. This setting affects the network and access to computers located on it.

In the IP protocol settings, you need to go to additional options and disable the use of a proxy, if this is not provided for by the connection settings of the provider itself. It is doubtful, of course, that a proxy is used initially, however, it will not hurt to check the settings. In addition, you can even experiment with addresses. You can enter the IP manually, but only in such a way that it differs from the gateway address by at least four or five dozen. That is, if the router has the last digit 0 or 1, the address of the computer must include the value 40 or 50 at the end.

Finally, another reason why the connection does not work can be the use of a VPN. At least at the stage of access to unlocked resources, it is desirable to disable this feature. And the Internet speed will be higher, and the waiting mode for a response from the site will be reduced, otherwise, in the end, you just get a 504 error like Gateway Timeout, which indicates the unavailability of the main gateway, or, more simply, the router itself, which router or modem is.

Brief summary

As you can already understand from all the above material, the ByFly WiFi connection itself is not particularly complicated. In principle, all actions are very much like connecting to the Rostelecom provider (at least the main parameters of the router and its settings used look the same). The only difference is that the first operator very often uses the Bridge scheme, and the second is based on the operation of the network in PPPoE mode. And a very cunning trick works everywhere, we they promise super speed but with a proviso BEFORE and some kind of large number of megabytes. And how much the company is silent. Therefore, there is nothing to complain about, we were promised speed up to some limit, and someday it may be, but in normal times, use what you have. The only plus was only that we chose unlimited tariff and did not worry that by the end of the month the amount for the Internet could turn out to be much more than planned, but otherwise there was nothing special to rejoice at.

Now we have changed the provider again and the Internet has become better. But compared to other cities and countries, I think we still lag far behind.

The office is still the same, Beltelecom. But I am already satisfied with the service of the Internet provider, not counting the shortcomings, which I will explain below.

I started using ByFly with the most primitive tariff and at the moment I have an unlimited Homebody XXL that costs 145,000 Belarusian rubles per month (about 480 Russian rubles). The price is very reasonable for paying per month, but for the year, of course, a decent amount flies out. The reception speed is up to 4096 Kbps, but the transmission is only 512 Kbps, and it is the same for all tariffs, only the reception speed is different.

To make it clearer, if someone does not understand Kbps, then I will give an example, a film with a volume of 1.5 GB (on average) I can download in 40 minutes.

That is, I am quite satisfied with this speed and tariff plan.

The Beltelecom company also provides a modem for use, of course, of medium quality, Promsvyaz, but some modems that I currently have support wireless wired Internet WiFi. Before that, I had a regular modem, but then they replaced it without any problems, since I needed wireless Internet.

As for the work of the Internet, it works differently, but more or less tolerably. Sometimes it is necessary to reboot the modem when, for no reason, the connection to the Internet is lost. ByFly technical support is more competent than ZALA. But still there are "jambs" behind them! When we connected ZALA, the specialist assured us that there would be no interference with the simultaneous operation of ZALA and the use of the Internet. What do we get in practice? If I download a movie, for example, and at the same time one of my family members is watching ZALA, then my ByFly reception speed decreases by 30 percent, on average. This is such an embarrassing moment.

Further, another unpleasant moment is that the wired Internet interferes with the wireless! That is, if something is downloading on my computer, then Wi-Fi simply “hangs” on my laptop or phone or the necessary information is loaded for a very long time. And in a simple way, even very often "throws out" from the Internet!

As for the ByFly signal, it is very decent. I can safely use Wi-Fi outside the house, in the yard and even on the street, near the yard, within a radius of up to 10-15 meters.

In general, this Internet provider is more or less worthy. It would be better, of course, but I think it's in the process. I am satisfied with the use. But there is one "But!", you need to choose a tariff plan that is more expensive, with a higher reception speed, otherwise you will not get any pleasure when using a cheap tariff with a lower speed!
