Organize and control the fastening and fencing of the train, checking the condition of the couplers of the disconnected cars, replacing the brake hoses in case of a forced stop of a passenger train, including when disconnecting (self-uncoupling) the cars of a passenger train, at the direction of the locomotive driver transmitted by radio;

Immediately investigate the reason for any out-of-schedule train stop by calling the train driver, according to the situation to ensure traffic safety and keep the train schedule.

Departure of a train with a faulty radio connection between the head of the passenger train and the driver is prohibited.

During the journey, the radio station in the service compartment must be constantly turned on.

In the absence of a message from the driver about the reasons for the stop, the head of the passenger train, after calling the driver three times by radio and not receiving a response, stops the train with a stop crane in the staff car and organizes the actuation of the hand brakes included in the composition and personally clarifies with the driver the lack of radio communication and the reason for the stop.

If there is no radio communication with the locomotive driver, when calling, it is necessary to go to the locomotive and find out the reason.

If it is impossible for the driver to drive a passenger train from the driver's cab, report the incident to the station duty officer by radio communication.

If during the trip there are unforeseen problems that the passenger is unable to solve on his own, he can always contact the conductors. But they are not always able to help - such issues as being late or losing a ticket can only be settled by the head of the train.

Who is the train leader?

Immediately it is worth making a reservation: the head of the train is not a driver. The driver leads the train, and the head of the train ensures that the members of the train crew fulfill their duties, prepares the train for the flight, controls the boarding of passengers, and much more.

As the person responsible for maintaining a high level of passenger service, the head of the train considers all unforeseen situations that the conductors cannot handle.

When can the head of the train help?

Inability to buy a ticket due to a technological break

The head of the train in this case has the right to take passengers on the train if they have a justified need to leave urgently. At the same time, no more than four people are boarded in the staff car.

Subsequently, it is necessary to arrange travel to unoccupied places within:

  • hours - from the point of departure;
  • half an hour - when landing from an intermediate station.

Loss of a ticket due to the fault of the conductor

In this case, the head of the train draws up an act in three copies, which is signed by the compiler, as well as the conductor of the car and the passenger.

The act states:

  • train number;
  • railroad train formation.

The head of the train certifies the act with his stamp and, on the basis of this document, without the participation of the passenger, issues a ticket at the nearest station. In this case, the passenger is not charged a carriage fee from the landing station to the destination station. On the back of the new ticket there is a note “Instead of the one lost through the fault of J.D.”.

"There are no places!"

If several tickets are sold for one seat, the train manager and the conductor are obliged to take measures to provide all passengers with seats in the carriages. The head of the train draws up an act in two copies, which indicates information about all travel documents sold for one seat. The act is also certified by the head of the train.

being late

If during the stop the passenger went out for a walk and the walk dragged on until late, do not panic. You must contact the head of the station at the station (or the station on duty if the head is absent) and explain the situation. In this case, you must specify:

  • surname;
  • train number;
  • wagon number;
  • place number.

After that, the representative of the station contacts the driver or the head of the train, and the passenger (even without identification documents) is issued a ticket to the station, where his “left” luggage will be unloaded. There is no additional charge for this. The validity of the ticket is extended until the station of arrival.

Disease

If you fall ill on the road and need medical attention, you must contact the head of the train through the conductor. By radio, he will report this to the head of the station of the station where the nearest stop will be, and the sick passenger will be met by an ambulance team.

When a passenger needs hospitalization, the train ticket is extended (no more than 10 days) if the head of the station where the passenger got off is informed within four hours.

How to avoid problems along the way?

The easiest way, of course, is to prevent troubles than to deal with their consequences. But it is even easier to advise to avoid trouble. Unfortunately, not all force majeure events can be prevented, but the probability of their occurrence can always be reduced.

Always follow the rules of travel on trains and check the availability of a ticket. If you have any questions, you can contact the head of the train, but the trip will go better if such questions simply do not arise.

2.1. Check the composition of the train crew:

    Receive road bulletins, forms for keeping records and transferring information about free places;

    conduct briefings with the employees of the train crew;

    receive a cartogram from the head of the station on the availability of seats in the train cars

      Carry out the acceptance of train cars in the fire-fighting, sanitary-technical and record in the train readiness log.

Note that he should check:

The correctness of the formation of the composition, the presence of route boards and serial numbers in the cars;

The quality of the repair and equipping of wagons;

Provision of wagons with bedding;

Presence in the cars of a memo to passengers, schedules, full names of conductors;

The serviceability of the electrical equipment of the cars, the availability of primary fire extinguishing equipment;

Serviceability of the automatic fire alarm system.

      When a train is brought to the passenger platform for boarding passengers, the head of the train is obliged to check whether all the train attendants are in their places and provide guidance for the boarding of passengers.

3. Duties of the head of the train along the route

    At the final points, control the disembarkation and embarkation of passengers.

The head of the train is allowed, if there are empty seats on the train, to allow the boarding of transit passengers who did not have time to purchase a ticket at the box office and present a telegram about an urgent departure.

    On the way, the head of the train must:

To carry out technical control over the proper maintenance of wagons and the normal operation of wagon equipment;

Together with an electrician, control heating and refrigeration systems.

Control over the availability of travel documents for passengers;

Take measures to provide wagons with water and fuel;

When auditing a train by controllers, the head of the train is obliged to check that they have documents for the right to audit passenger trains;

    at least 2 times a day to control the correctness of the account by the conductors of the population of the cars, the number of tickets and the consumption of bed linen;

    Check sanitary condition wagons;

    At the request of passengers, issue a book of reviews and suggestions;

    Take action against passengers who violate public order;

    In the absence of an electrician, enter information about deviations from normal operation and failures of wagon equipment.

3.3. The train radio is switched on by the head of the train from 8:00 to 23:00. according to the established schedule.

3.4. Transmissions must be:

On the rules of travel and observance by passengers of the rules of fire safety measures;

    About the location of the car, where the head of the train is located;

    Information about the composition of the brigade;

    Announcements about the time of arrival, departure and duration of stops;

    Information about the duties of the conductor to carry out wet cleaning in the car at least 2 times a day, and in the toilets at least 4 times a day;

    on the route of a passenger train, the responsibility for fulfilling fire safety requirements rests with the head of the train;

      When a fire is detected, the train master must:

Personally verify the complete evacuation of all passengers of the car and organize fire extinguishing with all available fire extinguishing equipment.

Call the fire brigade, at the same time take measures to uncouple the car.

      When a car is uncoupled, together with the head of the station, they are obliged to take measures to attach another car to replace the uncoupled one and ensure the transfer of passengers with the issuance of bedding in return for those who have lost it.

      About each case of uncoupling of the car, the head of the train must send a telegram to the following addresses:

Wagon home depot;

    the passenger service of their own road or to the road administration;

    the head of his road;

    main department of the Ministry of Railways;

      The head of the train is prohibited from:

On electrified sections of the road, climb onto the roof of wagons to inspect and repair radio antennas;

Inspect and repair outdoor sockets, signal lights;

Use non-standard fuses;

Enter and exit on the go;

Sell alcoholic beverages;

3.10 The head of the train is responsible for the incorrect actions of conductors.
