I have had an MFP for over a year. I will not repeat myself, I agree with the previous reviews - and with the advantages and disadvantages. In general, I am satisfied with printing, scanning and copying. Disturbing and depressing something else ...

chews paper, sometimes it is not possible to print 30 sheets of the contract

    2 years ago 0

For a short time, only one has been identified - after printing more than 20-30 photographs in a row, the latter have colored stripes. Works with CISS from inksystem. Maybe this is the problem ..
The glossy body loves to collect dust and fingerprints.

    2 years ago 0

I did not notice any significant shortcomings behind this unit. What a print, what a scan, everything is very worthy.

    2 years ago 0

Moving on to the disadvantages, the photographs fade a lot after about a year, fade ...! I don’t understand the reason, either ink or paper. Ink - INKSYSTEM, paper used in different ways. - HP, EPSON, LOMOND, both glossy and matte ...

    2 years ago 0

The disadvantage, rather for the entire ARTISAN series, and not specifically for the 730 model, is that the paper capture is simply terrible, and the density, size and manufacturer do not matter, it swallows several sheets of low density, and more often it simply does not capture high-density paper at all, when printing a large amount photographs or using a copier can be very annoying.
He worked with many models of this line, almost everyone had similar problems. Just as often there was a marriage among this series, but perhaps it was in a specific delivery, some of the photos were simply not printed to the end and the paper was spit out of the printers.

    2 years ago 0

Only one, when using CISS, the lid does not close tightly.

    2 years ago 0

1 - the paper is crookedly enough (even Epson's) out of 10 prints, one is crooked !!! and the more expensive the paper, the more "crooked" the grip! I printed on the cheapest paper (I don’t remember the manufacturer) and had an excellent grip, only the colors were not very good.
2- it is not clear where the air appears in the middle of the plume! (I may not have time to track it) "but so far it is not so critical as it appears only in red and blue colors" and it is very small (0.5 mm in the plume). At work, there is a CISS on the Epson T1100 for two years now, and this has not happened, and the CISS is the cheapest.

one huge drawback that crosses out all the advantages is that just a terrible paper grab

Not suitable for printing documents: high ink consumption

In this article, we will test a new multifunction device from EPSON Artisan 730, which is intended to replace the popular EPSON Stylus Photo PX720WD. In this regard, we will conduct comparative characteristics two models, dwelling in detail on the improvements of the novelty.

So, the new multifunctional supports cloud printing technology, including “ Virtual printer Google ". Of course, absolutely any printing device can be connected to this service, but for normal work in this mode, the printer without cloud support requires a PC connection with WAN access, while devices that support Cloud Print Ready can also work offline.

Specifications

As already noted, the described model is an A4 multifunctional device that includes the functions of a printer, scanner and copier. Designed primarily for work from home, but also great at photo printing. When applying the image, inkjet printing technology in 6 colors is used. The device is quite capable of working autonomously, that is, without connecting to a PC, has a wireless module for Wi-Fi. As for the printer, it meets all modern requirements. The device can use not only paper of various properties and density, but also CD / DVD discs as a carrier. The printer supports duplex and borderless printing up to A4 size. The maximum print resolution is 5760x1440 dpi. Printing speed is quite high - 40 A4 pages per minute.

A color copier allows you to make copies almost identical to the originals in a resolution of 2400x4800 dpi. The device is equipped with one paper tray with a capacity of 120 sheets. The device is equipped with a card reader and LCD display. With the latter, you can easily view and select photos. As well as device management. The MFP has a compact size of 446x458x150 mm and an acceptable weight of 9.6 kg.

Contents of delivery

This sample came for testing directly from the US distributor EPSON. Therefore, in the box you can find only a power cable, a CD with software and drivers, as well as user manuals.

Appearance

In general, the design of this model is similar to its predecessors, starting with the TX700W, but there are some distinctive features that distinguish this model from all others like it.

The rotary control panel has remained unchanged, only the lower part of the front panel has changed. In the new model, a large panel hides the card reader and paper feed tray. Thanks to this, the MFP has become much more compact and more interesting in the transport position. From the silver edging around the case, only a thin stylish strip on the front panel remains. In all other respects, the device is extremely similar to its predecessors. Among the shortcomings, it should be noted the presence of many glossy panels that are easily scratched and dirty. Almost impossible to avoid fingerprints are especially noticeable on gloss black.

The front control panel differs from its predecessors only in the key illumination color. This time, the manufacturers opted for emerald color, and not orange, as before. Also a useful innovation is the ability to hold the opened panel in any position, and not just in five intermediate positions, as it was before. At the front there is also a three-section telescopic tray for receiving impressions with a paper path limiter, a USB port, and a memory card reader consisting of two slots. A very convenient solution turned out to be a two-level paper feed tray, which allows you to simultaneously load both plain and photo paper.

On the rear panel, most of it is occupied by a removable duplex module, which significantly increases the overall dimensions of the device. Along the edges of the rear panel are USB ports and a power connector. The device has a built-in power supply unit that allows it to operate on a 220 volt mains supply. Only the scanner lid is located on top of the device, the upper side panels are empty at all.

Connection

You can connect to the device using a USB cable, that is, directly, or over the network. Moreover, the device supports both wired and wireless connections. "Classic" connection types are extremely easy to set up, regardless of whether you are working under Windows or Linux, and, interestingly, the official website of the manufacturer does not announce support for the latest OS. In Windows, the software is installed automatically from the disk; at the end of the installation, you only need to select the type of connection. It is best to set up a direct connection first, after that it will be much easier to set up a network, mainly wireless connection. By connecting the machine via a USB connection, you allow the setup wizard to automatically transfer the settings to the MFP. Thus, there is no need to manually enter the required settings from the control panel of the device, which is especially convenient considering the fact that a QWERTY keyboard cannot be connected to the device. A convenient innovation is the ability to simultaneously activate direct and wireless connections. In this case, two devices will be displayed in the list of printers.
Also in the MFP there is a primitive built-in web server with rather scanty functionality and information content. The web panel can display ink levels, network status of the device, proxy and DNS settings (although not in full), start automatic updates menu, Bonjour (Apple AirPrint) settings, Google Cloud Print settings.

We have already talked about the possibilities of cloud printing of this device, in this section we will dwell on them in more detail. The MFP has the ability to automatically access the network, therefore, for normal operation with the "Virtual Printer" service of this model, a connection to a PC is not required. All you need is a Wi-Fi hotspot or a network cable with Internet access. You can connect a virtual printer through your Google account. It is best to use a popular browser in this case. Google chrome, all other Internet browsers, including Firefox and Opera, lack connectivity. You can set up the Epson Connect service using the EPSON Connect Printer utility. You should create an account on the epsonconnect.com service, generate an e-mail address for your printer, to which you will subsequently send print jobs.

The functionality of the account on EPSON Connect is quite similar to the capabilities of the HP ePrint Center, on both services you can view the print history, you can link an unlimited number of printers, you can create a list of the most frequently used e-mail addresses that can access the printer, configure print. In addition, you can customize the notifications that come to your Gmail mail, change the name of the printer, its email address, and suspend access to the printer. If everything is configured correctly, then in the future you should not have any problems with sending images, text, tables and even PDF files for printing. You can also print from Google Docs or open web pages using "Cloud Print", but for now this service is only available for browsers Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome.

Flash media reader.

This multifunctional has a built-in two-slot memory card reader and a USB port that is used to connect cameras for direct printing and USB sticks. You can also activate or deactivate access to removable media directly in the device settings, and you can do this separately for a network connection, separately for USB. When connected over a network, all removable media are displayed on the PC automatically as network drives.

Scanner

The device's scanner uses LED backlighting, and the recording element is a CIS sensor. The device is capable of scanning with a very impressive maximum resolution 2400x4800 dpi. In other words, the scanner module is absolutely identical to that installed on the TX710W we tested earlier. The scanner lid can be opened, as before, to an angle slightly more than 90 degrees without intermediate fixed positions. The height of the connecting loops can be changed, but within a very modest range of 6-7 mm, which makes scanning thick books and magazines with the lid closed. It should be noted that now there is a special key in the scanner module that controls whether the scanner lid is closed or not.

Scanning can be performed both offline and semi-offline. In the second case, the scanned originals are sent either to the e-mail program, or stored directly in the PC's memory. In offline mode, scans are saved to a flash drive or memory card. It is quite easy to figure out the scan settings, since there are not so many of them. You can save the result in two formats: JPEG and PDF, however, the value of the latter is not as high as we would like, since the mode of creating multi-page documents is not supported. The machine is capable of scanning at a maximum resolution of 300 dpi, regardless of whether you choose standard or best scan quality. When scanning text, the resolution is automatically reduced to 20 dpi. You can specify the size of the scanned original in only three ways: A4, maximum and auto cropping. If everything is clear with the first two, then the last method is quite interesting. When this method is set, the unit will automatically crop the white background. Thus, you get the opportunity to scan an image of any format, and you can also put the original anywhere on the tablet. However, there are also limitations. Place the original as flat on the glass as possible since the auto rotate function is not installed in this MFP.

The scanner management program itself has practically not changed over the years of its development, so if you have already used an Epson scanner before, you should not have any problems. However, all settings are so conveniently and rationally divided into groups that even completely inexperienced users can easily figure them out. Settings can be displayed in four ways: automatic, simple, office, professional.

Testing
The color gamut of your scanner can be assessed using the Munsell Color Checker.

The table is scanned in high resolution with color correction disabled, and then saved in TIFF format without compression. Based on the idealized model of this table, a color profile is created that allows you to plot the color gamut in the Lab system for constant ab coordinates with a variable L equal to 25, 50, 75. On the thumbnails, the green curve shows the change in the color gamut of the scanner that is being tested, and the white one - sRGB color space.

Sample pictures

Speed indicators

To evaluate the speed performance of the scanner under test, an A4 sheet was scanned using a variety of density and color settings. All tests were carried out only with a direct connection in order to eliminate possible delays associated with unstable network operation. But it is worth noting that in practice the difference is practically not noticeable, especially if the connection is wired. Tests have shown that at 150 dpi, one black and white sheet is scanned in four seconds, just like gray and color originals. At a density of 300 dpi, the corresponding indicators are 4-4-8 seconds, at 600 dpi - 10-10-28 seconds.

OSD menu

Noise

The noise generated by the scanner was measured for the three most commonly used scan resolutions. If we compare the measurement results with those for earlier models, then the differences are so scanty that they can be attributed to measurement errors, which, by the way, did not come as a surprise. At a scanning density of 150 dpi, the noise level is 36.1-37.5 dBA, at 300 dpi - 35.2-35-8 dBA, at 600 dpi - 32.0-33.1 dBA.

a printer

The described multifunction is based on a six-color inkjet printer. The distinctive features of this model include the fact that separate cartridges in its case are installed in a separate compartment, and not on the print head, as it was before. Thanks to this innovation, it was possible to significantly reduce the weight of the carriage, which in turn led to a significant reduction in noise pollution, vibration and body swing. It is also worth noting that due to the choice by the manufacturers of just such a design, the profile of the body of the device has also decreased. Disadvantages of the design emerge only at large volumes of printing, when the printer is forced to take short breaks in work for literally a fraction of a second to pump up ink. For example, when printing simple text, swap is required only once every 2-3 pages. The preparation process does not take much time, it takes a maximum of 8 seconds, which is also similar to the performance of previous models. The module for duplex or duplex printing has not changed either. However, it should be noted that unlike similar integrated modules, say, HP and Canon printers, the module of our model is hinged, which negatively affects the overall dimensions of the device.

As tests have shown, paper should be loaded into the printer very carefully, since the paper feed tray is far from ideal. Even if the paper is slightly skewed or the edges are uneven, it may jam inside the machine. But, at the same time, the printer quite easily throws out even significantly wrinkled sheets, preventing them from getting stuck inside the case. At quick print large volume, especially in draft mode, the sheets at the exit are folded, to put it mildly, not neatly.

If you use offline photo printing, then you can set the number of copies, select the necessary pictures, create greeting frames, and print a variety of layouts. From other settings, you can select the type of paper and its size, you can also choose one of three print quality modes, activate the borderless printing function, and imprint the date. Also, the developers have provided a number of tools that allow you to slightly correct the photo, for example: the red-eye correction mode, auto-correction, automatic detection of the nature of the scene and a selection of appropriate settings, the use of basic and simplest color filters, such as sepia and b / w, in addition, you can manually adjust contrast, brightness, saturation and sharpness.

The setup menu interface is similar to other Epson printing devices. All settings are divided into five parts, each of which is located on its own tab - "Icons", "Main", "Advanced", "Layout" and "Service". The last tab serves for a variety of service procedures - checking and cleaning nozzles, replacing cartridges, calibrations, and more.

Testing

In order to correctly assess the color gamut of the printing device, the Datacolor 1005 spectrocolorimeter, which is supplied with Spyder3Studio, is used. It was with the help of this device that a pair of ICC profiles was built separately for ordinary office paper (80 g / m2), and separately for high-quality glossy photo paper with a density of 255 g / m2 from EPSON.

On the basis of the results obtained, a graph of the color gamut of the presented printer was obtained in the Lab color system for constant ab values and variable lightness with values of 25, 50 and 75.

Speed indicators

In order to conduct a correct print speed test, 10 sheets were printed, filled with a text template that consisted of the word "Test", (typeface Times New Roman, size 12). In draft mode, when the sheet was completely filled with the template, the time to print a page, excluding preparation time, was less than 3 seconds. When printing the same template in the "text" mode, the print speed drops significantly and is 8.5 seconds per page.

Photo quality print speed was determined using "Photo RPM (max dpi)" printing mode. Test images were printed in A4 and 10x15cm format. It should be noted that in both cases the borderless printing mode was enabled, which, as you know, slightly slows down the printing speed, but do not forget that this mode is used more actively than others in photo printing. Tests have shown that printing under such conditions an A4 image lasts 129 seconds, a 10x15 photo - 70 seconds. In the case of A4 format, the lead compared to its predecessors is about 4 seconds. This is primarily due to the shorter pauses for ink pumping.

Vibration and noise.

The noise pollution test results are generally satisfactory. Both picking up and ejecting sheets, the printer emits a noise equal to 57.0 dBA. The most noisy was, which is not surprising, the preparation process - 66.8 dBA. With various settings and printing modes, the noise level ranges from 37.0 to 62.5 dBA.

OSD menu

Printing on disc surfaces.

Like all devices in this series, our device also allows you to use not only paper, but also discs as a carrier. This feature is available as when connecting to a PC. So it is offline. The drive tray, or rather the holder, is built into the MFP case and slides out just before printing. Therefore, there is no need to look for a separate place for the holder. For the sake of fairness, it should be noted that the integrated disk holder is still a distinctive feature of EPSON printers.

Sources for offline printing include removable media and cameras. You can print as one photo on the entire surface of the disk, or collage up to 10 images on one disk. As with printing on paper, all adjustments are available. In addition, in order not to spoil the discs in vain, you are given the opportunity to make a proof print on paper.

For printing on discs, it is best to use the free EPSON Print CD utility, which you can find on the included disc. With this program you can create your own covers or use the built-in templates. Of course, you can print to discs from any graphics editor that supports the print function. however, in this case, you will have to suffer from getting the image to disk. The ideal option would be to create images in a powerful editor, and print them using the bundled software. After printing, especially in high quality, it is not recommended to use the disc in the first day after printing.

OSD menu

Copying

Copying, as one of the most important functions of multifunctional functions of this class, in rare cases is improved, but on the contrary, it is somewhat simplified from model to model. Our device was no exception. All settings are almost completely copied from their predecessors. You can activate the function of double-sided copying, photo recovery mode, select the paper size and type, select the quality mode suitable for you. In addition, a zoom function is available in the range from 25 to 400%. And of course. there is a possibility to copy on the surface of the discs.

Speed indicators.

As usual, the speed test was carried out in color and monochrome, using all possible settings, not taking into account the preparation time for printing. Tests gave the following results - printing one sheet in monochrome in draft quality takes 9 seconds, the same figure for a color image. With the standard quality of bw, the sheet is printed in 16 seconds, in color - 19, in the best - 39 and 52, respectively.

conclusions

As you can easily notice. the presented model, by and large, is only a slightly updated copy of the PX720WD. The design of the front part has changed insignificantly, the color of the key illumination has been replaced. Concerning functionality, then there are no changes at all. However, at the same time, the task of cloud printing has been successfully implemented, which makes the device more mobile and, as they say, advanced.

Review of Epson Stylus Photo PX730WD MFP - not a printing photo harvester for everyone

“Faster, higher, stronger” is the Olympic slogan, and it is a sin not to apply it, slightly adapting it, to the home printing industry. "Faster, better quality, more convenient" - so be it. But what could be more difficult than perfecting an apparatus that is already quite remarkable? Yes, a lot, but the point is not in the complexity of different activities. It, in essence, lies in this: with the development of printing technology, new models are less and less different from their predecessors. After all, there is nothing to fundamentally improve - all that remains is to laboriously work on the little things. When there are many pleasant things, the novelty is interesting. The Epson Stylus Photo PX730WD has enough of them, and therefore: welcome!

First acquaintance: the new role of the old photo center

Mfp epson px730wd

The Epson Stylus Photo PX730WD MFP is the top-end wireless photo center PX700W (known as TX700W in the CIS countries), once again updated in less than five minutes. Over the past three years, he has acquired a touch control panel and duplex, and the official announcement of his ideological successor PX730WD has also brought minor changes to the 700 line. appearance, advanced mobile support, simplified Wi-Fi setup and new illumination of the touch buttons: green instead of orange.

It became possible to print bypassing the computer from smartphones and tablets running iOS and Android - directly, and from all other devices that can get out to the Internet - via Email... The technology that has provided every wireless innovation this fall with a unique mailing address has been dubbed cloud printing, and was probably taken over from HP. This American giant has been introducing ePrint in half with grief for quite some time - the essence of the same cloud printing, but under a different name.

The main problem with email-oriented printing is spam, and not even the letters themselves, but the fight against them. To save the owners of devices with advanced functions from the dubious pleasure of one day discovering a materialized mountain of unwanted correspondence, manufacturers have to fence in paranoid security systems that, as they say, so that strangers are afraid, beat their own. Success is considered to be the loss of only every fifth letter sent by one of the few mail services, the support of which is officially declared. Users of others postal services, as a rule, they are even less fortunate.

The richness of functionality - including non-trivial ones - determines the market niche of seven hundred and thirtieth. As stated on the official English-language website of the company (the Russian resource is less informative), this MFP is for enthusiasts. So nowadays geeks are tolerantly called, that is, people who are too keen on various technologies. However, those of them who are also obsessed with the quality of photo printing will hardly be satisfied with the hero of this review, because, unlike the Epson R series printers, the seven hundred and thirtieth is only a semi-professional device. However, the manufacturer tries to hide this fact in every possible way, not hesitating to promise a quality that is not only comparable to laboratory quality, but also exceeding it.

A small summary. PX730WD - MFP is not for everyone, as befits any almost top-end device. And it's not just the cost, which will be discussed below - the hero of this review is functionally redundant. For enthusiasts, as Epson calls them, this is great. For ordinary home users - nothing, because printing over the Internet or editing photos with the help of an MFP alone, they are no more interested in the volume of an ink drop, the configuration of the print head nozzles or compliance international standards energy saving, that is, they are not interested at all.

Competition analysis: expensive and angry

Memory card reader (card reader) mfp epson px730wd

Seven hundred and thirtieth is not a cheap pleasure. According to Yandex.Market, at the time of publication of this review, the average price of his hero was about 12,200 rubles. For this money, you can get as many as two HP Photosmart Premium C310s, each of which, although inferior to our hero in the number of colors (five versus six), scanner resolution (1200x1200 dpi versus 2400x4800 dpi) and lacks an Ethernet connector, there is a device of the same kind and a close level (the C310 print resolution even surpasses seven hundred and thirtieth: 9600x2400 dpi versus 5760x1440 dpi). Moreover, there will be enough money for the CISS for one of them.

If we are faithful to the Epson printing technique, the Epson Stylus Photo PX720WD should be considered as an alternative first of all (350 rubles cheaper, but knows nothing about cloud printing and is far from being so willing to make friends with mobile devices), TX700W (cheaper by 950 rubles, but without duplex, cloud printing, advanced work with mobile devices and with a button rather than a touch control panel) and TX710W (the same "outdated" TX700W, but for some reason more expensive than the hero of this review on 350 rubles). Note that in the printed sense, all the mentioned MFPs are the same. Of course, minor corrections of the printing system are not excluded, but nothing is officially said about this.

Is in lineup Epson MFP is also for those who consider the "seven hundredth" line too simple and cheap. This is the Epson Stylus Photo PX820FWD (13,600 rubles), comrades: Epson PX830FWD (a new product, the cost of which is still unknown) and TX800FW (a model without a duplex for 13,550 rubles). All "800" are equipped with the best in comparison with the "700" scanner (4800x4800 dpi versus 2400x4800 dpi), as well as fax and ADF. These devices (especially the PX830FWD) truly fit everything that can be imagined in a modern photographic MFP. But the photo centers one step below our hero, on the contrary, cannot do a lot of things. So, for example, the Epson Stylus Photo PX660 is not equipped with either a duplex or even a Wi-Fi wireless communication module, but it is almost half the price - 7,100 rubles.

Let's summarize. The PX730WD is an advanced, yet unreasonably expensive (compared to HP MFPs) home photo center. Anyone who decides to purchase this miracle of printing technology will have to pay not so much for modern technologies and high quality How many for ideological reasons - for the brand, for the piezoelectric printing technology, for the print head separated from the cartridge, in the end for the ability to relatively easily convert the printer module from a conventional to a sublimation one (prints images on special paper for their subsequent transfer to cups, T-shirts, caps and so on).

Appearance: in a glossy captivity

Control panel lcd screen touchscreen mfp

The first thing that catches your eye is even a glimpse of the MFP - an abundance of gloss. The sad fate of imitating the mirror was avoided only by the sidewalls and the lower part of the front panel hidden under the glossy cover: the receiving tray and feed tray, a built-in card reader with support for different memory card formats (up to CF) and a PictBridge USB connector are hidden there. Trays - complex design, with separate supply of office and photo paper, both horizontal. The capacity of the input tray is 140 sheets (120 sheets for office paper and 20 for photo paper), but this specification is not indicated for the input tray. A separate media feed element is a removable CD tray.

The photo center itself cannot be called particularly compact, although the abundance of functionality makes up for this drawback, and Wi-Fi support even levels it out. In addition, it is weighty (almost 10 kg), which in the understanding of an ordinary user usually means high quality in general of all MFP components. At least with regard to the case, this statement is true: the MFP is assembled from thick and high-quality plastic, moreover, to the conscience - with minimal gaps between the panels and without poorly fixed elements.

However, the control panel of the seven hundred and thirtieth is fixed with only one end, that is, the angle of its inclination can be changed. When pulled up, it opens access to the CD tray, which was already mentioned above. Its interface is well thought out, understandable and user-friendly. Even "image editing", by which Epson understands the imposition of one or more preset filters on a photo, is quite easy, despite the not very royal display size (only 6.3 cm).

The cover of the scanner has no intermediate locking positions, and the hinges rise very slightly, which somewhat complicates the scanning of spreads of thick magazines and books. On the other hand, optical CIS-sensors are not intended for scanning such originals, whatever our compatriots think to themselves, fully using them for these purposes.

On the back of the novelty there is a removable duplex (it sticks out great for the case, which makes its contribution to the anti-compactness of our hero), ventilation holes, as well as three connectors: power, USB and Ethernet.

So, the PX730WD looks impressive and stylish. This is a truly modern apparatus, a kind of printing combine, which has collected almost all the functionality available today, but, alas, has not managed to remain practical. Moreover, this claim refers not to the interface of the control panel, not to the organization of the on-screen menu, but only to the coating of the plastic from which the case is made. Yes, gloss is presentable and fashionable, but not everyone will like being on duty at the novelty with a rag in hand to wipe endless fingerprints.

Technical features of the printer, scanner: a little fiction and absurdity

Testing

Mfp carriage epson px730wd

Let us recall the testing conditions, which are unchanged in each of our reviews. We tested the Epson Stylus Photo PX730WD MFP with four different print templates: “Text” (multi-page document filled with the word “Text”; font - Times New Roman, size - 12, line spacing - single; for evaluating the speed of monochrome office printing), “Text and graphics "(a color chart took up a third of each page of the" Text "template; for assessing the speed of color office printing)," Center for Alternative Consumables "(the required expression is typed in different sizes of Times New Roman; for evaluating the quality of office printing); "Photo" (stitching of various full-color and black-and-white images; to assess the quality and speed of photo printing).

There are no complaints about the photos printed on the PX730WD: they are bright and clear - just like on a monitor. The quality of photo printing is no better than laboratory quality, as promised by the manufacturer, but not much worse, if at all it is possible to discern the difference. A common problem with medium-sized photo printers - the presence of extraneous color shades in black and white images - is not observed. Alas, office printing isn't nearly as hassle-free. Even in the mode best quality the edges of the characters are cut, and the smaller the font size, the more this defect interferes with reading. This is likely the result of printing with photographic ink on ordinary office paper.

The printing speed, of course, is far from the promised, although, to tell the truth, you cannot call a slow MFP. In standard quality mode, it needs 47 seconds to print a 10x15 cm picture and 111 - if we are talking about an A4 photo. Best Quality increases the waiting time to 70 and 131 seconds, respectively. The situation is not bad with office printing: in draft mode, its speed reaches 15 pages per minute for monochrome documents and 13 - for color documents. With the “Text” quality settings, it drops to 6 and 5 pages per minute, respectively. We will delicately keep silent about how the announced indicators are far from the promised ones.

As expected, we had no complaints about the scan quality. The scanned images completely and completely correspond to the originals, do not lose the brightness of colors, retain their clarity. The impressive resolution of 2400x4800 dpi is enough for any home and even for some professional needs.

A small summary. The PX730WD is excellent - and moderately fast, which is important - it copes with photo printing, but, alas, it is poorly suited for document printing: even though it maintains a good speed, defects, even in the best quality mode, do not really correspond to its impressive price. The same cannot be said about the quality of scanning: here it exactly matches the price.

Conclusion

Epson Stylus Photo PX730WD - the device is certainly curious and provokes to seriously engage in photo printing. Otherwise, how to get rid of the feeling that more than 12,000 rubles have been spent on an MFP, which is practically unsuitable for printing texts - the most frequent use of home printers?

However, the hero of this review is really famous not only for photographic abilities, but also for huge functionality. In order to bring together everything that is customary to equip printing devices today, he only lacks an ADF and a fax. Everything else is in stock. However, there is hardly a person who will often and out of necessity (and not out of curiosity) use all this.

  • a huge variety of functions and supported technologies;
  • high quality photo printing;
  • decent print speed for an inkjet device;
  • stylish design.
  • problems with the quality of document printing;
  • actual print speed is far from promised;
  • an abundance of easily soiled glossy surfaces.

Pros: I have had an MFP for over a year. I will not repeat myself, I agree with the previous reviews - and with the advantages and disadvantages. In general, I am satisfied with printing, scanning and copying. Disturbing and depressing something else ...
Cons: ... moving on to the disadvantages. After about a year, the photos fade a lot, turn pale ...! I don’t understand the reason, either ink or paper. Ink - INKSYSTEM, paper used in different ways. - HP, EPSON, LOMOND, both glossy and matte ...
Feedback: In general, the MFP is happy. But can anyone say anything about photo burn-in? What is the reason?

Pros: A lot
Cons: Weight
Feedback: I have a hobby - I have been doing photography for ten years. By the nature of my hobby, I came across many types of photographic equipment, but when I saw the Epson Artisan 730 MFP I immediately fell in love. The design is awesome, a bunch of glossy panels, a color display, everything ... the characteristics are excellent: duplex printing, a high resolution, the typing speed is super-fast !. The most important thing is CISS !, that the menu is not complicated, the photos come out very bright, clear, you can print on disks (though I have not tried it yet), you can connect any printing device. Of the minuses, the weight is almost 10 kg, but if it is stationary, it will go. It connects easily, I was very surprised that you can use both direct and wireless connection, for me this is important. Good scanner, awesome resolution. I copy a lot, there have never been any failures. In short, I recommend it to all amateurs and professionals!
I was looking for where to buy for a long time, I finally found a store on the Internet, the price was arranged, the service is at its best, in short, I am very happy with my purchase! I ADVISE ALL !!!

Pros: Good printer. Convenient, understandable, economical with CISS. Even when printing several dozen photos, there is no loss in quality.
Cons: Only one, when using CISS, the lid does not close tightly.
Feedback: I recommend. But only in conjunction with the CISS. There is no loss in quality, but the savings are noticeable. and it's easy to track ink availability. And in general, on any inkjet printer, you can go broke buying original consumables for it.
