Model of a grooved board machine. Four-sided planing machine

Wooden lining is a very popular building material, but its high cost can become a factor that significantly limits the use of lining in everyday life. The solution to this problem can be a machine for the production of lining with your own hands - by buying such a device or making a similar machine yourself, you will not only provide yourself with high-quality building material, but also guarantee additional source income!

Why do the lining yourself

Before you worry about buying a machine for the production of lining, you need to analyze - do we need it? And if so, why?

There are several reasons for purchasing a lining machine:

  • Firstly, is quite advantageous in terms of the cost of the material. If we analyze the prices in the market building materials, then you can easily see that the cost of edged boards - the main raw material for the production of wooden lining, is much lower than the cost of finished lining.
  • Secondly As we noted above, a home lining machine can be a significant source of profit. After all, it is possible to produce lining not only for internal consumption (i.e. for yourself), but also for sale. In this case, the cost of purchasing the machine will pay off much faster.
  • Thirdly using the machine for self-production of profiled boards, you can control the quality of the products yourself. And if you are making wall paneling for your home, then quality is one of the most important factors in production.

In addition, most wall paneling machines industrial production make it possible to produce not only lining, but also beams, plinths, platbands and other wood products.

Lining machines

General information and principle of operation

A typical lining machine is a machine that processes a fixed-width piece of wood on four sides at the same time. The upper and lower planes of the workpiece are ground, and the corresponding profiles are formed on the lateral longitudinal sides - a spike or a groove, depending on the chosen configuration of the lining.

The process of processing wood in such a machine is shown in the video.

As a rule, factory-made lining machines are mounted on rigidly fixed beds, but small handicraft machines can also be made portable. Such a machine can be installed in a garage or shed - if necessary, it is pulled out for use, and then folded back.

The main units of the lining machine are:

  • The unit for supplying the workpiece for processing - the parallelism of the planes of the finished lining depends on the quality of its manufacture and the accuracy of work.
  • Node for placing planing elements and cutters. In high-quality factory machines, the rotation speed of the elements reaches 4500-5000 rpm, which provides high quality surface treatment of the workpiece.

Note! If you purchase a ready-made lining machine, be sure to check the quality of protection of rotating elements.

The receiving table is also an important element of the machine design. Although it does not directly affect the quality of the lining produced, it largely determines the convenience of working on the machine.

Choosing a lining machine

Before purchasing a machine for the manufacture of lining, you need to determine the type of machine, as well as its performance:

  • For four-sided processing of workpieces of small thickness, machines of low productivity with a low feed rate of workpieces are used. Such a machine is optimal for home lining production. On the one hand, it is relatively inexpensive, and on the other hand, it fully provides the required amount of material.
  • For the production of lining on a large scale, as well as for the processing of thicker workpieces, it is necessary to purchase a high-speed machine. Naturally, the price of such a machine will be quite high - so it is irrational to purchase it only for personal use.

Note! When choosing a machine, pay attention also to the cost of components, in the first place -. Quite often, it is the cost of purchasing milling cutters compatible with a given machine model that is the main cost item.

  • A separate group of machines is made up of handicraft machines for the production of profiled wood blanks (pictured). Here it is necessary to carefully study the characteristics of each instance, since among self-made machines one can find both frankly substandard devices and quite working equipment.

The choice of wood for the manufacture of lining

For self-production of lining (and we need high-quality lining - otherwise it wouldn’t be worthwhile to fence a garden!), Not any tree is suitable:

  • The optimal workpiece for lining is a board sawn from the bottom of the trunk.- so there will be fewer knots in it.
  • The blank for the lining must be even and intact, without mechanical damage, rot and stains. The better the workpiece, the better the final product will be.
  • The optimum moisture content for the lining is 12-16%... Wet wood is only suitable for the production of technical lining - i.e. one that is not used in decoration.
  • As for the wood species, it all depends on the task that we face. You can make both traditional pine lining, or oak.

Note! In the manufacture of lining from oak or larch, it is necessary to use only the sharpest cutters of high hardness. This is due to the fact that both larch and oak have rather dense wood, which is why the cutter of the lining machine quickly becomes blunt.

Of course, in this article we have described only the most general principles work of machine tools for the manufacture of lining. However, even this instruction is informative enough to help you choose the right model - and start producing wood trim panels with your own hands!

The four-sided machine "START 5x210" is designed for the manufacture of moldings up to 210 mm wide. With the help of "START 5x210", high-quality planar and shaped processing of the product from four sides in one pass is carried out.
As a result of processing, you can get such products as: floor boards, plinths, platbands, lining, bar, block house and others.
"START 5x210" meets all the requirements of small and medium-sized woodworking business.
Benefits of "START":

  • Product size it is quickly adjusted, according to special rulers, by the movement of the right and upper spindles (the left and lower spindles are adjusted in a small range to compensate for tool wear.
  • The presence of two pairs of corrugated hazelnuts, spaced and located one above the other, makes it possible to increase the reliability and accuracy of feeding the blanks. good quality and high humidity.
  • Optimum speed feed (5-10 m / min) contributes to high productivity.
  • The system of stepless adjustment of the feed rate allows you to best adapt to the available material for the job.
  • Strict positioning of the workpiece in two planes is ensured by special support plates and paired spring-loaded rollers.
  • Accurate grinding of the working shafts guarantees the complete absence of face and radial runout of the tool.
  • High speed rotation of the spindles (4500 rpm) ensures high-quality processing of the finished surface. It is also possible to install an upper spindle with a rotation speed of 6000 rpm.
  • The machine is equipped with a protection system against back-ejection of the workpiece.
  • The machine bed provides easy access to all equipment components, which makes it easy to maintain. At the same time, it has the necessary rigidity, excluding vibrations during operation.
  • The working surface is made of durable steel, which increases its service life up to 10-15 years, however, if necessary, it can be replaced. The possibility of replacing the working surface increases the service life of the machine almost indefinitely.
  • Additional grinding of the working surface minimizes feed resistance and improves machining accuracy.
  • The machine is controlled from an independent mobile control panel.
Additionally, the machine can be equipped with a specialized pick-up table, which will avoid "undercutting" the end of the workpiece, by means of precise height adjustment.

One could say that the floorboard is a material "with a beard", but it can be done in another way - it is a material with a long history. And the best way to test love is, of course, time. Our love for this floor covering has gone through all the tests.

Now she is experiencing very serious pressure from newfangled "competitors", but still this love is strong. And advanced ideas in the field of carpentry machine tool building have made this love even stronger.

Love for centuries - despite the shortcomings and "rivals"

Moreover, this love is becoming a priority for the development of countries such as Finland and Canada. Avid for all the world's monetary business ideas, China also joins a number of countries - world leaders in the production of wood, floorboards, in the first place. And for good reason. She is in great demand due to her wonderful qualities.

Qualities without which nowhere

Among these wonderful features of a floorboard:

  • Ability to withstand a large number of so-called cycling- in another way, you can use it on this floor, and then re-place it on another, third, and all thanks to the fact that it is made from a single piece of wood, as opposed to parquet, which is "glued".

  • Resistant to fluctuations in temperature and humidity- both due to the material itself and the configuration of the boards, which have longitudinal grooves for inserting one board into another;
  • High strength and reliability- although it is not worth checking this, especially since it strongly depends on the type of wood used for the production;
  • Ability to keep warm- although it does not interfere with helping with insulation;
  • Antistatic, I mean - electric - this property of a tree is demonstrated at school in physics lessons;
  • Antiallergenicity, already pure, human - although it must be said that the widely used coating of the board with varnish significantly reduces this positive feature;
  • Environmental friendliness- and regardless of whether the board is made from primary or from the so-called renewable resources.

But there are also disadvantages

There is no perfection in the world, this wood fully confirms.

Among its disadvantages there are also significant ones, if we talk about the application on the floor:

  • she perfectly conducts sound, and what could be worse for the floor;
  • very demanding to care and use - on the other hand, and what material will tolerate the absence of a broom or vacuum cleaner for a month;
  • does not tolerate waterlogging at all - it is precisely "pere", well, this is permissible only in bathrooms, neither the living room, nor the nursery, anyway, do not allow floods;
  • softness, already raised to the rank of instability to abrasion, and this is already very significant;
  • and also wood is combustible, prone to decay, insects and rodents love it very much, it changes its shape as a result of drying out.

But enough about the disadvantages. One more and very important advantage can be derived from them.

These shortcomings gave such an impetus to the development of technical, creative thought that dozens of technologies for wood protection and dozens of new technologies and materials for laying the floor were developed. And this is also thanks to the same floor board, allegedly, its shortcomings.

Useful advice!
However, be very careful when purchasing a floorboard.
We advise you to deal only with trusted suppliers with their own large production facilities.
And, very importantly, they have their own industrial plants for drying wood.
As a rule, everyone has a sawmill, but worthy dryers - one, two, and countless.

Wood species

Nature created wood species great amount, but not all are suitable for a floorboard:

  • poplar and linden - are categorically not suitable due to their softness, and most importantly - the constant presence of hard-to-remove resins;
  • pine, alder, aspen - these species are already in use, but since they are considered not hard enough, their use is small - when there is “alder” on the floor, one cannot do without varnishing, which, moreover, must be constantly updated;
  • oak, larch, ash, walnut are hardwoods that make up the glory of such flooring as floorboards.

Usage

Instructions for using floorboards can be hundreds of pages long, but the general line of technology is quite simple.

Preliminary

Based on the existing shortcomings, we are preliminary preparing the following:

  • waterproofing, it is best to focus from the very beginning on laying two layers of waterproofing;
  • varnish for finishing boards;
  • we place the boards in the room where the work will be done, and let them sit there for at least two days;
  • we prepare reliable aids for drying and grinding, both for the floorboard;
  • wood primer - for processing joints.

Styling

The progress of laying the floorboard on a concrete base is as follows:

  • First, all depressions are grounded, all protrusions are sanded, drying should take at least a day. In no case immediately use the prepared hair dryer, its turn should come at the final stage of drying.
  • Then the primary waterproofing is laid - do not forget to remove the waterproofing around the entire perimeter of the floor at least 10 cm above the future level of the board.

Useful advice!
We advise you to install the waterproofing layer over the entire work surface in one piece.
If it is not possible to do this, then be sure to treat the joints of the neighboring ones with a piece of waterproofing adhesive tape, and from both sides.

  • A concrete screed is laid on the waterproofing. Grinding, taking into account the future laying of the floorboard, is carried out in order to raise cement milk from the concrete to the surface to remove it. In addition, grinding allows for additional sealing of the screed. That is why it is recommended to sand at least 2-3 times.
  • Next comes another layer of waterproofing.
  • And it is the turn of the floorboard, which can be mounted both directly on the prepared base and on the logs.

conclusions

Laminate, linoleum, porcelain stoneware - and all this, supposedly, to replace the floorboard. And, nevertheless, the board is still held in high esteem. Even these floor coverings cannot do without it.

The production of floorboards is constantly growing, it is even included in the list of industries that reflect the level of industrial development in a particular country, along with gas, oil, steel and rubber production. What company! And in it there is a place and a floor board.
