Painted wooden bracelets. Painting the bracelet using the double brushstroke technique

Love DIY fashion accessories? Then wooden bracelets with hand-painted created just for you. They are already forgotten enough by fashionistas to be considered an ordinary phenomenon in our time, but like any hand-made, they are in high demand and popularity. We invite you to join the site's master class and create an original accessory with your own hands.

It is not necessary to be a talented artist, everyone is able to make a bracelet with polka dots, and if it is a little crooked, it will only become a hint of fashionable hand-made “primitives” that go well with wooden bracelets.

So, to make hand-painted wooden bracelets, you will need:

wooden bracelets-blanks of any width;

white acrylic paint as a base;

acrylic paints of other colors;

brushes made of synthetic fiber (I, unfortunately, from a pony) - thin and thick;

if you are going to make a bracelet with polka dots, it will be convenient to draw not with a brush, but with an acrylic outline in a tube;

acrylic varnish, matte or glossy;

sandpaper, a file or just a nail file.

List of bracelets - order of work:

Step 1. Inspect the wooden bracelets - they shouldn't have any roughness or roughness. In this case, you need to use a file, and if there is none, an old nail file will do. Make the surface of the bracelet as smooth as possible.

Otherwise, the paint will fall on it like this:

Step 2. We paint the bracelets completely white. Of course, if you plan to cover the accessory with black paint, you can skip this step, since in this case the texture and color of the wood will not distort your idea. If you have conceived something airy-light-clean, then we advise you to cover the bracelet with a layer of white paint, or even more than one. I had to make three layers because my paint is highly transparent.

Important: before applying the next layer of acrylic paint, the previous one must be completely dry! Therefore, get ready to wash your brushes and change the water after each "run", otherwise the working tool will be irretrievably damaged.

Step 3. When all the bracelets are covered with white paint, and the texture and color of the wood do not shine through it, proceed to drawing. If you have a complex pattern in mind, use a simple pencil to outline its borders. My bracelet painting is the simplest, so I limited myself to only dividing the bracelet in half with a line even before painting, because, I repeat, I have not very successful white translucent paint, and the drawing will still be a little noticeable - I did it so that the bracelet my polka dots were half white, half pink.

Step 4. Mix paint on the palette to get the desired shade. I wanted to achieve a pale pink, for this I first applied a few drops of white paint to the paper (instead of a plastic palette, it is more convenient for me to use a piece of Whatman paper), and then, after washing the brush well, I gradually added red so that the shade did not come out too dark. You will need a little paint.

I painted flowers with pink paint on the outside of one bracelet. If you look closely, you will notice that they are very simple and not very even:

I used a thin # 2 brush.

In the color painting of bracelets, if you do not use ready-made shades, but mix, try to do all the work in one color at one time, because then you are unlikely to be able to mix the paints so that you get exactly the same shade.

I quickly painted half of the second wooden bracelet with the same color, as planned, inside and out, applied polka dots on the outside of the white half, and then hung it on the balcony to dry.

At this time, the outer part of the first bracelet dried out slightly, and I was able to decorate the inner part of the bracelet.

While we were working on the inside of the "flower" bracelet, the polka dots are already slightly dry, so we carefully apply pink dots on the inner surface of the white part of the bracelet and leave the bracelet to dry. We finished with the pink color, I just smeared it with the chip on the pink part, which you see in the photo below - it was formed through my fault, so be careful.

Step 5. The final touch in the painting - when the pink layer is dry, make the centers in the flowers white, and make white dots along the pink part of the polka-dotted wooden bracelet. It is convenient to make them with a contour, but I worked with a brush. The outline would have been smoother.

Do not forget to pay attention to the inside of the bracelet when painting the bracelet - this gives the work completeness.

Step 6. When all the paint dries very well, it's up to varnishing. This is also an important step because acrylic painting is not scratch resistant, and your pretty accessory today can upset you tomorrow with chips and scratches. Because I have a matte white background paint, I chose a high-gloss varnish:

Wooden bracelets are perfect for creating casual, ethnic and eco-style looks. They look beautiful, stylish and are not expensive at all.

Varieties

Wood accessories are one of the most ancient types of jewelry... Today they do not lose their relevance. Striving for simplicity, environmental friendliness, naturalness of everything we touch, make wood one of the most desirable materials.

The tree is incredibly malleable, so the designers' imagination is not limited by anything. It is even theoretically impossible to describe all the varieties of wooden bracelets. Let's dwell on the most popular models.

Bead bracelets... It's simple: wooden beads are collected with an elastic band. These can be small beads on a long elastic band that is wrapped around the arm several times. Another model is just beads of any size, gathered on a string in a row.

Very beautiful accessories are made from non-circular beads. For example, a bracelet made of pieces that resemble tangerine slices. It gathers nicely around the wrist and frames it.

Beads can be square, oval, "tubes". Bracelets made of long and thin beads assembled by "palisade" look a little more predatory - they perfectly emphasize thin wrists.

Solid bracelets are made on the basis of a wooden blank. It can be round or square, triangular in shape. Their width is also not limited by anything.

Such accessories are made from precious woods - then it is enough to grind the bracelet well and it will be beautiful in itself, showing a natural pattern. Sometimes such bracelets are covered with artistic painting.

Carved women's bracelets look incredibly sophisticated. As a rule, such accessories are made by craftsmen by hand - their cost is much higher than that of beaded bracelets. Such accessories usually gravitate towards ethno-style, fantasy style and fit perfectly into a summer wardrobe.

Wooden decorations can be made by yourself, for example, popsicle sticks... This is a great idea for children's creativity, although, having certain skills, you can make a completely worthy "adult" decoration:

  • Clean popsicle sticks should be put in warm water and put on fire. Boil for 15-20 minutes.
  • After that, after slightly cooling, the sticks must be carefully bent, forming a half-ring. You can place them in a wide glass from the inside, pressing them against the walls. Allow to dry.
  • After that, the blanks can be removed and painted at your discretion. In addition to paints, you can use lace, threads, ribbons and other decorative methods.

The subtleties of working with wood

By and large, everyone can make a simple bracelet made of wood with their own hands. This area can be conditionally divided into two directions. The first and simpler one is carved and inlaid bracelets with an open solid texture. The second direction is.

Tip: Don't start with highly artistic carvings or fine paintings. Take on what you can do here and now. Remember, mastery comes with time.

What kind of wood to choose

Of course, it is better to start with, such as linden or cedar. Having mastered the basics of work, it will be much easier for you to switch to hard and dense wood. Also, an important role is played by who exactly the bracelet is made for.

Dark wood bracelets for men with an open, pronounced texture. While light and painted jewelry appeals to the weaker half of humanity.

Thin branches, as well as the upper part of the crown, have a too porous structure, they are not strong and it is more difficult to work with them. Professionals prefer to use the lower trunk or thick roots.

Tip: Small and thin parts break easily. Therefore, it is better to set aside an array on which there are knots, use only homogeneous wood. Agree, it will be a shame if the finished segment, in which you have invested your work, bursts on a bitch if you press it carelessly.

Stylists note that wood jewelry is experiencing a rebirth in modern fashion. The first reason is the trends in the fashion industry, the second reason is the desire to wear original things made from natural materials, to be closer to nature. The tree, after being processed and acquiring a stylish design look, gives warmth, surprises with texture and an unusual look.
