We draw on clothes at home. An overview of the methods of painting with acrylic paints on different types of fabric

Reading time: 7 minutes

Russian sundress, Indian sari, Japanese kimono. Each of these works of art combines a mysterious, distant, subtle artistic craft - painting on fabric fibers. Different eras, countries offered their own vision of drawing a pattern on fabrics. Batik, kalamkari, mehendi - techniques for drawing a picture on a canvas, creating artistic masterpieces on it..

Since ancient times, people have been worried about the question: how to make a pattern on fabric? For the first time, the technique of hand-painting on textiles appeared many years ago on the territory of mighty and perfect Indonesia. Batik - ancient art, he was idolized then and appreciated today. Modernity associates and invests several meanings in this concept: both the technology of hand painting on fabric, and one of the types of classic Indonesian canvases.

In its development, batik technology has undergone many transformations, it is being improved and complicated even today in different parts of the world, but in the minds of most connoisseurs of luxury textiles, the fact remains that batik is associated precisely with the islands of Indonesia. The manufacturability of the process differs significantly from the original recipes. Two substances remain unchanged - wax and water.

Batik - Drop of wax

Batik... Why was this name given to the art of painting on fabric? You should turn to the translation, which reveals all the secrets of the magic word. “A drop of wax” is an exact translation of the word from the Indonesian language, which describes the essence of the ancient craft process.

Wax applied to the fabric blocks the ducts of the applied paint (does not let them through). It is precisely due to this property of molten and hot paraffin that the colorlessness of certain areas on the canvases obtained after dyeing of textile fabrics is achieved. Remaining clean (unpainted), they form the necessary pattern, ornament. Simple, interesting, inexpensive, and most importantly - open to creativity and original ideas the principle of reserving fabric bases - batik - became an incredibly popular type of needlework already in those days.

Pattern fabric

It is believed that this technology is compatible only with fabrics made from natural silk:

But, as practice shows, drawings on cotton fibers look no less interesting and organic:

The process of drawing a pattern on a silk base

  • Modern technology based on use as a solution to block ink on silk or cotton fabric, a backup solution consisting of glue (rubber is considered the most suitable), paraffin and solvent (you can use available gasoline).
  • The resulting solution is used to process the contour of the pattern on silk. Remember that the drawing must have a closed line. To do this, some craftsmen use drawing a pattern on the fabric through a stencil.
  • carried out using special glass tubes.
  • Places of the drawing that do not go beyond the processed contour are covered with paints.
  • Colors for creating a picture can be a wide variety of colors, tones and shades.
  • If the drawing algorithm was carried out sequentially, then on silk or cotton you can see a multi-colored pattern with a white outline.

  • If pigments are added to the reserve solution, ornaments with a colored outline can be obtained.
  • The applied pattern must dry.
  • At the bottom of the container with water (there should be little water), textiles with a pattern are placed, after wrapping it in paper and rolling it into a ring.
  • The drawing is boiled for a quarter of an hour.
  • The paints are fixed on the textile canvas. They get saturated.
  • After such a procedure, the painting is resistant to color loss and moisture.
  • A silk fabric with a pattern is taken out of the pan and washed under running cold water until the dye disappears from the fabric.
  • The product is dried and ironed (only while the fabric is damp)

Drawing with stamps

The experience of Indonesian artisans quickly spread around the world. In India, the masters of painting also discovered the enormous possibilities of the Kalamkari technology. This is how the Indian creators of painting on fabric called the "batik" previously known to us.

The fabric obtained using this dyeing method differs from others in its ability to “amaze” the human eye, “inspire” the mind with the splendor, richness and originality of the decor, multicolor, saturation and brightness of colors.

Initially, artisans painted on fabric with special bamboo pens, which were pre-filled with organic paints. With quick movements of the hand, the master created only the outlines of the future Indian pattern. Classical black was mainly used for the contour, but the pattern itself was decorated using traditional colors of paints.

"Kalamkari" is an improved "batik". A few years later, the process of decorating (dyeing) textile fabrics is carried out using special-purpose wooden stamps. An outline of the future pattern is born on the fabric, which was then painted by the master using a pen and fineness of application. The fineness of the drawing process depended on the quality of the wood used to make the stamps. Pedigree cellulose was considered quite valuable.

The cost of "kalamkari" depends on many indicators: on the size, the beauty of the pattern, the art of carving.

The modern sound of technology based on the difficulty of accessing the dye to the fabric is very diverse. or Indian "kalamkari" - different names for the same technique.

Production technology

  • Drawing on a fabric cloth of drawing in black flowers. To do this, stamps are manually applied to the textile webs. The number of such applications reaches dozens of times.
  • After the black patterns have dried on the fabric, it is “painted” with stamps. In order for the ornament to look holistic and neat, the main lines of the pattern should be observed. For coloring, it is recommended to use classic tones and shades.

Textiles - the basis for the technique

Considering the fact that the technique is more than one century old, it can be assumed that natural fabrics were used to create textile masterpieces.

  • cotton;
  • linen.

The use of synthetic fabrics for dyeing is not prohibited, but it is recommended to test the compatibility of paints and canvas.

Lacheria

India is the mother of art and the daughter of beauty. She gave humanity another, no less interesting technology - "Lacheria", which to this day is a real work of art.

The essence of the method is simple actions:

  • the fabric is twisted with a tourniquet, and then tightly fix (wrap) those places on the canvas where it is planned to create stripes;
  • the resulting structure is dipped in paint;
  • As a result of the Lacheria technological process, unpainted areas of the fabric remain in places closed by twisting the tourniquet, and the pattern turns out to be unusually beautiful.

The end result of the technology is a “wave effect”, which is periodically located on the canvas, like waves.

Mehendi - the cultural heritage of India

Painting the body with patterns of their henna is called the "mehendi" technique. But very often this technique is used for dyeing fabrics. The only limitation is that dyed textiles should not have contact with moisture, since henna is an unstable plant pigment.

Therefore, this technology is great for creating Indian panels, home decorations, elements of celebrations and ceremonies.

Historically, the mehendi technique can be performed in four styles:

  • Arabic (there is no clear application scheme, predominantly floral ornaments predominate);
  • African (use ethnic patterns. The most popular elements of Afro patterns are geometric shapes;
  • Indian style is one of the most complex. It always occupies a large territory and assumes a complex pattern, which is often based on an elephant or Indian symbols of fertility;
  • European. Innovative Approaches to the formation of the pattern combine various oriental elements into one whole.

The most popular is the floral print (it has no restrictions on application and specially designed schemes). This may be an element of oriental painting or a pattern reminiscent of Arabic embroidery.

Secrets of the mehendi technique:

  • successful mehendi painting directly depends on a properly prepared mixture for drawing;
  • the main component of the coloring solution is henna (available). Basma or iodine solution can become an alternative to henna.

In most cases, "mehendi" is used as a means of decorating the body, but there is no limit to perfection when natural fabrics take on the elements of patterns from technology.

Fashion for creative pictures and catchy inscriptions on T-shirts never goes away. It changes, popularizes: either cartoon characters, or comic book characters, or life-affirming phrases, or quotes. famous people, but the essence remains the same - something unusual, attracting attention to clothes. A great alternative to the repeatedly reproduced version of the print on things from the mass market will be drawings on T-shirts with your own hands. This is an opportunity to choose a base of any quality and color, and express your individuality. A T-shirt that is hand-painted can become calling card owner or a great gift for a significant event.

How to print with acrylic paints?

A durable drawing at home can be applied using the method of cold or hot batik, felt-tip pens for fabric, aerosol cans, using decals, but acrylic is the most reliable and popular. There are several ways to print with acrylic paints:

  • Copying a drawing from paper. This method does not require special artistic talents, only accuracy. The drawing can be done by hand or printed on a printer. All outlines must be a dark color that can be seen through the fabric of the T-shirt. For convenience, it is better to glue the finished drawing on thick cardboard, evenly pull the T-shirt over it and fix it around the edges with pins. Next, you need to carefully outline the contours with a simple pencil or felt-tip pens on the fabric, and proceed to fill in with color;

  • Drawing on fabric by hand. This is a technique for self-confident, which gives more room for imagination. You can pre-draw the contours, or you can immediately start working with paints, creating a work of art on your T-shirt. The method is more suitable for light materials, and those cases where some negligence in the drawing is acceptable;

  • Stencil application. The easiest way to guarantee a good result. Stencil drawing is convenient because the picture can be copied many times on T-shirts, for example, for the whole family, the KVN school team, competition uniforms, or just a group of like-minded people who want to be recognizable in the crowd. To make the picture look more interesting, you can superimpose stencils of different sizes on top of each other, change the angle of inclination and colors;

  • Screen printing. Designed for complex drawings of several colors. It is applied with special ink and screen printing mesh, roller and other tools. This method is not suitable for beginners.

screen painting

Of all these methods, screen painting is the most common. It is simple to perform, economical in time and satisfactory in terms of results.

To paint, you will need: a cotton T-shirt, a stencil or cardboard for it, acrylic paints, a small dye roller, a tray for diluting paints, gloves, scissors or a stationery knife, masking tape, an iron.

The procedure is carried out step by step:

  • Washing. Many people want to skip this step, but it must be done. Acrylic paints work best on cotton, and cotton tends to shrink when washed. The drawing will not shrink with the size of the T-shirt, it will deform, and the work will be spoiled along with the T-shirt and the gift of translated materials.

After washing, the T-shirt must be well dried and ironed so that the base for the pattern is as even as possible;

  • Stencil blank. While the T-shirt is drying, there is time to apply the design on thin cardboard. You need to cut out the contours very carefully, without notches, otherwise the edge of the pattern on the fabric will turn out to be uneven. For the first attempt, you can buy a stencil in a store or stick a printout from the Internet on cardboard;

  • Work surface preparation. A flat, hard surface, such as a desk or coffee table, is suitable for drawing a picture. All the necessary tools are placed nearby, from the side of the working hand. Acrylic is hard to wash off, so it is better to cover the table with old newspapers, and start the creative process in old clothes;

  • T-shirt preparation. A clean, ironed thing must be placed on the work surface, straightened out so that there are no wrinkles and irregularities. It is recommended to put a thick layer of paper or cardboard inside so that the acrylic does not print on both sides of the T-shirt, if this is not the idea. Next, a stencil is applied to the T-shirt. To keep it in place during painting, the edges must be glued with paper tape;

  • Dilution of paints. To prevent acrylic from drying out ahead of time, pour the desired color into the tray or mix it from several different ones immediately before application. In order for the paint to lay flat, the roller must be evenly saturated with acrylic. To do this, it is dipped several times in the tray until it gets a little heavier, and then a test smear is made on a piece of paper. If the layer is dense, you can start painting;

  • Drawing drawing. With confident movements horizontally and vertically, “roll up” the stencil with a roller. You can go beyond the edges of the picture, but not over the edges of the paper; It will not be superfluous to apply a second coat of paint. When it dries a little, you can remove the stencil and leave the drawing to dry completely;

  • thermal effect. The ink will set better if you iron the fresh print with a hot iron through a thin cotton towel. After that, the T-shirt can be worn and washed. The first few times it is recommended to do this in cold water on your hands, and the next - in a typewriter with other things.

How to create an abstraction?

A boring old t-shirt can be revived with an unusual space print. Drawing planet stencils is not required for this, all you need is a T-shirt, acrylic, gloves, bleach in a spray bottle and a few brushes.

If the T-shirt is new, it must first be washed and dried. The old one must be clean and ironed. Abstraction is best applied to fabrics of bright or dark colors; it will not look so impressive on white and light colors.

The drawing process begins with the preparation of the working surface, in this case, the floor. It should be located away from the walls so as not to splatter them with paint, and carefully cover the creative area with newspapers. Then you can start working materials.

First of all, you need to dilute a small amount of bleach with water in a spray bottle, prepare brushes and bottles of paint of your preferred colors.

From an arm's length, apply a bleach solution to the T-shirt, wait until it changes color and dries. Then, opening the paints, alternately dipping the brush in different colors, spray them on a T-shirt. Very small details are more convenient to work out with a toothbrush, spraying a fine layer of paint directly over the fabric.

If desired, you can repeat the procedure with the second side of the product after the print on the front side is completely dry.

Drawing in knot technique

Knot technique is inherently a kind of batik. The main difference from traditional painting on fabric is that as a reserve (a substance that separates one color fragment from another, preventing the colors from mixing), not a special adhesive solution is used, but threads, ropes and plaits.

With the help of threads, knots of different sizes are fixed on the fabric, which are lowered into the paint. As a result, the paint fills only the fragment that is separated by threads, and diverges in beautiful “rays” along the creases in the fabric.

Making knots is pretty easy. There are no patterns and special rules, the fabric can be folded and bandaged at your discretion. The main thing is to decide how big or small the colored fragments will be, and carefully separate one from the other with the help of threads or string.

It is better to take white threads so that they do not shed during dyeing. Of course, this can give an additional element of decor, but it can also spoil the whole idea.

In addition to threads, buttons and pebbles are often used to fill one or another piece of fabric so that the paint lies more interesting.

Nodular staining is performed in stages.

Training

The first stage is the choice of fabric and its preliminary preparation. Batik is applied to cotton, silk or wool products; the preferred color is white. Depending on the idea, before tying the knots, you can apply splashes, stripes, stains or patterns to the T-shirt.

Node formation

The second stage is the most important. It depends on how the drawing will turn out in the end. After twisting the fabric in a certain way and tying knots, you can get circles, flowers, stripes, or you can make them arbitrarily, and then the pattern will be unpredictable and original.

Filling Nodes with Color

The third stage involves the choice of staining method. The most reliable is to lower the knots one by one in a container of boiling colored water. This method guarantees the penetration of paint into all layers of the fabric and gives the effect of flowing from one color to another.

The fastest is the use of spray paint. For a lasting effect, it is enough just to spray it on the texture of the fabric for a few seconds, but there is a risk that the knot will not be completely dyed.

The longest and most costly in terms of materials, but also the most beautiful as a result, is the use of pure paint. If you want smooth and soft transitions, the knot must be moistened before dipping it into the paint. If a bright, rich ornament is a priority, the T-shirt fabric can be left dry. So, to paint a t-shirt with clean paint, first of all, decide on the colors of your future t-shirt, put them in molds and dilute with a little warm water.

It is important to observe the proportions of paint and water. If the ink ratio is greater, then the color of the pattern on the T-shirt will turn out to be more saturated. But at the same time, it is not necessary to make the solution very thick, otherwise it will lead to coarsening of the tissue. The solution should not be too watery either, as this will lead to loss of color when the T-shirt dries.

Then we proceed directly to the coloring of the T-shirt. We take a syringe, draw a solution into it and begin to squeeze the solution onto a T-shirt.

The more knots and colors involved, the more interesting the print will turn out.

fixing the paint

When the product has dried, it must be ironed through a thin fabric without a pattern, so the paint will better fix and last longer.

Fifth stage final. It is optional, but nevertheless, you should not skip it. The knot technique requires the use of a large amount of dye, which can begin to wash out during the first wash. To prevent this from happening, a day after fixing the paint, the T-shirt must be moistened and rinsed in running water, washing out the excess amount of acrylic. After that, the product is ready to be worn and washed along with other things.

Master class on painting at home

Drawing a picture on things with your own hands is a time-consuming process, but not difficult. The classic version on a white T-shirt is performed as follows: drawing a pattern, contouring, filling with color, fixing the paint with an iron.

Painting on fabric with acrylic paints allows you to create unique and exclusive things from ordinary everyday wardrobe items. The creative process of painting on fabric is so interesting and exciting that it can turn from an ordinary hobby into a real business idea to create additional income. Painting with acrylics is easy and fun. Our article and the master classes presented will help you to understand in detail all the intricacies of painting with acrylic paints.

Beginners often think: “What will happen if I draw something wrong, can it be corrected if I use acrylic paints and use certain fabrics?”. But don't worry. Errors can be corrected.

The best paints for painting on fabrics and garments are acrylics, which are based on polymers. This means that the coloring pigment does not penetrate into the fibers, but, as it were, covers them with a protective film. The structure becomes denser and loses its elasticity.

Products coated with paints for drawing on fabric become colorful, bright and unique. In addition, the acrylic coating gives the painting a waterproof effect.

Advantages of acrylic paints

Acrylic clothing paints are the most popular type of dye among home painters and professional artists. The advantages and benefits of acrylic paints for drawing on fabrics include:

  • a wide range and availability for sale;
  • safe and easy use;
  • the possibility of adding water as a diluent;
  • water resistance of the coating of patterns and the ability to withstand washing products;
  • acrylic paints for multi-colored painting on fabric are easily mixed, which makes it possible to obtain various new shades.

For fixing acrylic painting dry with a slightly heated iron.

The disadvantages of acrylic paints for painting include:

  • deterioration of the coloring properties of pigments during long-term storage;
  • mandatory use of additional contours due to the increased fluidity of acrylic pigments.

With paints for drawing on fabric, you can not only paint wardrobe items, but also decorate textile shoes, paint a handbag or apply a non-washable pattern to an umbrella. The painted surface is very pleasant to show to others, and hand-dyed fabrics are sometimes better than the clothes of fashion houses. You just need to draw on clothes carefully.

Choosing the right fabric for painting

If you give advice on choosing paint for fabric for beginners, then you should immediately note that there are no restrictions on the material for painting with acrylic. You can paint any materials: dense textiles, popular denim, delicate silk, thick cotton or linen. When choosing, you should not forget that the places painted with acrylic paint will have a dense structure.

Typically, manufacturers of acrylic paints for fabric on the stickers of tubes and jars indicate the recommended type of fabric:

  1. If the label contains the inscription "Silk", then this means the pigment is intended for dyeing soft and thin fabrics, such as silk, cambric, chiffon.
  2. The designation "Techtile" means that this type of acrylic paint for fabric is recommended for dyeing dense materials, genuine leather, velvet, suede. Fabric dyeing will be easy. It is enough to use the necessary tools.

Dense fabrics can be well painted with acrylic according to a pattern or stencil. The drawing in this case will have clear boundaries with a pronounced color print. Anyone can learn how to paint clothes with acrylic paints. For this, it is not necessary to have special artistic training.

In craft stores and art shops, you can find ready-made stencils and templates with floral designs, animal figurines, geometric prints, and many other images.

Preparatory work

Before painting with acrylic paints on fabric, it is recommended to carefully prepare the chosen base: immerse it in cold water for an hour and wash it a little. After rinsing in clean water, it is best to dry the fabric and then iron it with a warm iron.

If the material is thin, such as cambric or silk, then it is better to stretch it on a wooden frame and leave it to dry completely. If you decide to decorate a piece of clothing, it is best to isolate one layer from another with cardboard or thick paper.

Types of acrylic painting

Hand-painted fabric with the help of reserve compositions is called batik. Such a definition of painting can be found on Wikipedia. Batik technology consists in applying the appropriate paint to the selected fabric base. To get clear boundaries at the junction of coloring compositions, a special fixer is used, called a reserve composition.

Acrylic dyes can be used in several types of staining:

  • Hot batik with melted wax or paraffin. With it, after dyeing the fabric and removing the wax coating, a white or multi-colored pattern is obtained on a colored background. This application technique has long been popular, but it requires special skills.

  • Cold batik with the use of contours of reserve compositions. The contours create well-defined borders and do not allow the acrylic dye to spread over the fabric. The drawing is obtained with a bright graphic look. With cold batik, it is possible to use ready-made templates or stencils as a contour.

  • Knotted batik dyeing consists in the formation of a canvas pattern with small knots. Knots can be tied directly on the fabric, or you can use strong threads or a cord for this purpose. After dyeing the fabric, the nodules bloom and new ones are made. This continues until the end of the pattern. Gradual smooth transitions from light to dark color create a picturesque and interesting pattern.

  • Free painting in its process is similar to the drawing of watercolor paintings. It is applied directly to the fabric and allows you to freely embody any creative idea, plan. At the final stage, for the clarity of shades, reserve compositions are used. This type of painting is more suitable for people with artistic skills.

  • Painting with an airbrush. It allows you to spray the smallest particles of acrylic paint. The airbrush works like an advanced spray gun, it is convenient for them to spray paint at a distance of 20-30 cm from the surface of the fabric.

Even the simplest type of acrylic painting will help to significantly transform everyday familiar items of clothing or interior.

Subtleties of painting technique

When applying acrylic paints, it is important to consider some rules:

  • Diluted acrylic paint will stain the fabric worse, and so that the coating does not wash off when washing the product, it is recommended to use branded real thinners.
  • The staining surface of the fabric or garment is separated from the working surface of the table or other object with an impermeable interleaving film or wax paper.
  • To understand how to dye fabric through a stencil or template, you can imagine an ordinary children's coloring book. The only difference is that when applying acrylic in layers, you need to wait until the previous layer is completely dry.
  • First, a light tone is applied to the drawing, and then gradually move to darker tones.

If you paint on fabric according to these simple rules, you can get an acrylic coating that is not washed off even after repeated washes. Sometimes it is enough to watch the master class, and everything will become clear.

Methods for applying acrylic paints

There are several ways to draw on fabric or clothing. The method of drawing with paints depends on the tool used, on what paints the drawing will be applied with:

  • Applying drawings with a brush.
  • Screen or template printing using special rollers or various foam pads.
  • Creating an acrylic relief contour in combination with painting with brushes.

You can easily learn how to draw amazing and unique beauty with the help of painting with acrylic paints. From ancient times to the present, the beauty of this fascinating creative process is finding more and more of its fans. If you try to create such a handmade miracle yourself, then it will be impossible to stop, the process of creating masterpieces of painting with your own hands is so addictive and captivating.

Ideas for painting on fabric (20 photos)

Most people strive to reflect their individuality in their appearance, especially in clothes. This mainly concerns women who follow fashion. One way to do this is to print on the fabric - a type of decor that has not lost popularity for many millennia.

What can be the pattern on the fabric

In addition to manually applying a pattern to the fabric - a method proven over the centuries that allows you to create unique high-quality items in a single copy - modern industry also offers machine options (from printing to embroidery in various techniques). The second method is cheaper, but not suitable for the production of products in small runs.

Printed pattern on fabric very popular in India, from where it was subsequently borrowed by Europeans. Until the 18th century, it was applied only by hand, but then mechanical printing machines were invented, consisting of a cylinder-shaped shaft and copper boards on which the pattern was engraved.

In principle, you can make such a drawing yourself at home, but you have to tinker and be patient. First you will need to cut a relief pattern on a wooden board. Then smear it with paint with a roller and press the fabric against it. The main problem with this method is the use of short-lived paints that quickly fade from washing and sunlight.

Drawing on fabric embroidery is a traditional type of needlework among the Slavic and some other peoples. Initially, embroidered drawings were not just an element of decor, but amulets - sacred symbols that were supposed to bring good luck and protect their owner from evil. They were embroidered on clothes and household textiles with silk or cotton threads. Modern embroideries also use beads, beads, metal fittings and other decorative elements that add volume to the picture. Anyone who wants to embroider a pattern on fabric can easily find the necessary materials and patterns in sewing accessories stores.

Life modern man firmly connected with the diverse and colorful world of fabrics. We choose clothes, interior items and upholstered furniture according to our taste, their design and colors are, as it were, an external continuation of our “I”. Fashionable, stylish clothes or interior design of an apartment is not only a way of self-expression of a person, a comfortable living environment, but also a kind of “message” about his personality to other people. Not always our tastes can be satisfied finished products from the store. In this case, special paints for fabrics come to the aid of a person. Modern coloring means allow you to realize your most daring fantasies.

Do-it-yourself drawing on fabric has long ceased to be exotic. Often, for dyeing fabrics, aqueous solutions of dyes are used with the involvement of a variety of chemicals, heat treatment, and so on. However, at home this is not always convenient. We believe that the best solution for doing fabric dyeing at home, especially for beginners but wanting to try their hand at this kind of creativity, is to use acrylic-based indelible dyes, which are easy to use, bright, rich colors and excellent fade resistance. Combining fabric dyes such as acrylic spray paint, water-based spray paint, liners for line drawings, fabric pastel, for coloring, will help to create a truly interesting, fashionable design for your clothes, home decoration or upholstered furniture. Creativity will help you to make a real masterpiece of creativity out of a faded T-shirt or an ottoman that has lost its original appearance.

How to draw on a T-shirt?

In the first part of our article, we will tell you how, using the simplest tools and dyes for fabrics, and even without special skills, you can fantastically change your clothes, giving it a unique, individual style!

Consider the process of applying a pattern to a fabric with aerosol dyes using the example of a regular T-shirt of a uniform color. We will tell you how to give an interesting texture to the fabric of a T-shirt using the so-called "knot technique", and how to apply an original pattern to it using a stencil. Note that these two methods of working with fabric can be used both separately and perfectly combined with each other.
The T-shirt may be new or used, it is only important that it be made from natural textiles (cotton, silk, etc.) or, in the case of mixed fabrics, include no more than 20% synthetics. We recommend washing a new T-shirt before dyeing to remove softening additives.

What do you need to dye a T-shirt at home?

Step_3 Lay out the T-shirt horizontally on a level surface. Carefully cover the area around the painting with old newspapers or a special covering film, fix the covering material with masking tape.

Step_4 Carefully attach the stencil to the T-shirt using double-sided tape or spray adhesive for temporary fixation. Try to ensure that the stencil fits as closely as possible to the fabric. Note that it is aerosol glue that provides the maximum tightness.

Step_5 Before starting work, shake the paint in the aerosol can well; shake it for at least 30 seconds. Apply spray paint in smooth, circular motions. For better coloring of the material, it is desirable to apply the paint at least 2 times, allowing the previous layer to dry for 10 minutes.

Step_7 Same as in " nodular technique”, you can apply patterns, ornaments or inscriptions in the form of clear, dense lines to the drawing created using a stencil using colored liners containing water-based textile paint.

Now that you've got the basics of working with fabric dyes at home using a simple t-shirt as an example, you can start experimenting with your clothes to give them an unusual, dressy look. We are sure that your imagination, multiplied by the almost limitless possibilities of a multi-color palette of paints for fabrics, will surely create interesting samples of creative thought.
