Literary magazines in Russian. Some magazines

The journal "Russian Literature" is the first and only in the country periodical devoted to the history of Russian literature at all stages of its development.

Its first issue was published in the spring of 1958. The journal was headed by V. G. Bazanov, a man of versatile knowledge, broad interests, always at the center of scientific life, able to attract talented authors to cooperation. The editorial board included B. I. Bursov, A. S. Bushmin, V. E. Gusev, V. A. Desnitsky, V. A. Kovalev, D. S. Likhachev, F. Ya. Rozhdestvensky, V. V. Timofeeva. At the same time, the editorial board was formed. Yu. A. Andreev was appointed its executive secretary. In mid-1962 he was replaced by A. A. Gorelov. And since the spring of 1963, for more than 40 years, M. D. Kondratiev has been in this post.

From the early days of its life, "Russian Literature", taking into account the practice of previous academic and historical journalism, relied on the program of activities and scientific traditions of the Pushkin House, of which it was the press organ. The breadth of coverage of the Russian literary past and present, the variety of research areas, the relevance and scope of the problems of the works published in it, the composition of the team of authors representing philological institutions and higher educational institutions of the country, the geography of distribution allowed the journal to immediately acquire the character and significance of the all-Union.

International recognition also comes very quickly to the publication: foreign subscription to it is growing from year to year. Already by the beginning of the seventies, the journal entered the university and private libraries of Russian scholars in 34 countries of the world.

The structure of the journal took shape mainly by 1963. New sections were added to the originally planned sections - "Articles", "Materials and Communications", "Chronicle of Scientific Life": "Notes, Clarifications", "Reviews and Reviews"; rubric "Controversy", collections of publications "From scientific heritage". Interest in the problems of textual criticism and attribution led to the appearance of periodic collections corresponding to them.

Although the coverage of the main problems of the history of Russian literature in the journal is associated primarily with its first section - "Articles", the study of the literary process in all its complexity and completeness is greatly facilitated by the materials of all subsequent headings. Thus, in particular, the primary role of the journal in expanding the source study basis of our literary science (section "Materials and Communications", later entitled "Publications and Communications"), in acquainting the reader with a wide range of problems of domestic and foreign Russian studies (section "Reviews and Reviews "). Since the journal was founded, hundreds of books have been reviewed, representing different aspects of literary science, its different directions. The "Chronicle" section provides information about the current scientific life - meetings, conferences, symposia, in the organization of which the Pushkin House took part.

Since the end of 1968, for twenty years, V. V. Timofeeva has been the permanent editor-in-chief of the journal. Since 1988, it has been N. N. Skatov, one of the country's leading researchers of Russian classical literature. At the same time, the editorial board is substantially updated.

On the pages of the magazine, the reader continues to get acquainted with works devoted to folk art, the literature of Old Russian and the 18th century, the classical heritage, and the literature of the newest period (20th century). Theoretical, historical and literary studies continue to coexist in it with biographical and textual research, thematic headings related to the anniversaries of classical writers, critical reviews, polemics, attributions, extensive information about current scientific life based on the materials of numerous international conferences.

The history of "Russian Literature" is part of the history of Russian literary science of the 20th century. More than six thousand works have been published on the pages of the journal since its foundation, which have become a kind of encyclopedia of Russian literary criticism. Together with the enormous work of hundreds of scientists, the contribution to the history of the journal and the editorial staff (E. G. Ivanova, A. D. Kopysova, I. A. Lebedeva, Yu. .
