The Xerox 5016 prints and copies faintly. Printing a test page without a PC

Often, printer users have to resort to a procedure such as printing a test page. Thanks to it, you can make sure that the basic settings of the device for printing are correct. In addition, the test page displays all information about the printer model and driver version. All this information can be very useful and necessary when troubleshooting various problems.

How to print a test page?

But often users of office equipment have the following question: how to print a test page? So, in order to perform such a procedure as a test print, you first need to select the "Control Panel" menu from the list of services. Next, in the section where the entire list of printers is displayed, find the device model that interests you.

Right-click on the printer icon, and then select the “properties” command from the context menu that appears. In the window that opens, go to the "general" tab, and then click on the command, which involves starting a test print. Please note that if the device is started for the first time or has not been used for a long period of time, it will take longer than usual to print the sheet. The fact is that the printer in this case will first need to collect all the necessary information about the system, and this may take about one minute. The test page settings in any printer are usually set to "default". Therefore, when printing a test page, it tests absolutely the entire list of parameters.

Then you may have a question about what to do next. Next, you need to carefully evaluate the test page - it should have samples of all colors, as well as text and graphics. If such printing was carried out using an inkjet model device, then make sure that there are no ink streaks on the page. If the test you made suits you, then you can click on the command that implies saving the default print settings. Otherwise, customize them to suit your needs. For example, if necessary, you can only check the nozzle test. Thanks to this, you can immediately know which colors print normally and which print with various problems. In addition, a nozzle test is necessary to make sure that the ink enters the print head in the correct order.

Possible problems

But sometimes the following problem occurs: the test page did not print correctly. In this regard, the question arises of what to do in this case and how to still print this page?

So, if the test page does not print correctly, then one of the possible problems lies in old or "broken" drivers. To solve it, you need to download and install their updated version. But what if this action did not help and the problem associated with the fact that the printer does not print is still relevant? In this case, give full rights to "Everyone" for "C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS", then delete the desired printing device on the registry branch "HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Printers". In addition, give the normal user the rights that the administrator has and install a new driver under his name. After that, you can withdraw the previously granted rights from him. You should also disable UAC. If the steps taken do not help, then you should run the Process Explorer utility and, during printing, pay attention to what rights are missing.
If until recently a normally printing printer still prints a test page not as it should, then you can use the Procmon utility from Sysinternals. Run it and set the "denied" filter on the line Result - contains. Next, print a test page, after which this utility will show which folder you did not have full rights to. For example, it could be the "TEMP" folder.

It is also worth adding that there is still such a procedure as a stop test, which is used for. To use this type of test while printing a page, you must turn off the power, and then look at the copy that has not yet completely exited the device. Thanks to this procedure, it is possible to determine the cause of poor printing, which may be in the cartridge, transferring the image to paper, and the thermal unit.

In addition, sometimes the printer disconnected from the PC does not even print a test page. The cause of this problem may be missing or jammed paper, or an incorrectly installed cartridge. or by connecting the device to a computer and reading the corresponding decryption in the driver. In general, almost any breakdown during the operation of the printer can be done independently, but if you do not know the reason, it is better to use the services of a service center.

With cyan, number 140 is equal in color fastness to the original.

It is stated that cyan is responsible for 80% fading in Epson inks.

Given - a set of ink from seven bubbles, each is accompanied by a certificate of quality with the parameters and spread of this bubble.

Why are there seven bubbles?

Because there are two cyan. 140 is claimed to be lightfast and 142 is claimed to be normal.

The difference in price between them is estimated as tenfold! The test used printer R270, refillable cartridges, paper Epson PremiumGlossy 255gr. The paper is selected as native for the R270 printer. During the test, I simultaneously tested InkMate EIM290, Hameleon ER270 ink, original Klaria ink in process cartridges for clarity. Before changing the ink, the PG is washed with distilled water, two milliliters per color. After washing and cleaning the PG with a printer, I give a printout of an A4 sheet to completely replace the remaining distillate with ink. Refillable cartridges in the amount of two sets. I will make a reservation that the test with InkMate EIM290 ink was carried out on the RX690 MFP.

So, I will describe the essence of the testing process.

For 45 minutes, control prints are irradiated with ultraviolet light at a distance of about 50 cm. For irradiation, a home-made source of ultraviolet light was used - a DRL lamp. Since the lamp practically does not emit ultraviolet radiation in working condition, the bulb was dismantled from the lamp, inside of which a layer of phosphor was applied, which makes the ultraviolet rays glow in a safe spectrum. Lamp power - 400 watts. The emission spectrum of the lamp with the dismantled bulb is not known to me. It is reliably known that under the influence of ultraviolet, oxygen molecules turn into ozone molecules. Ozone is an oxidizing agent. In order to exclude its influence, flow ventilation is turned on in the room. I also want to note that the temperature of the control prints during the test does not exceed 40 degrees.

So, here is the result of irradiation of control prints.

Also, for clarity of burnout, real photographs were irradiated.

All test photos were printed using color profiles. Profiles are built on the targets of 729 patches, with drying during the day. Equipment for building profiles - i1 PRO. Software, in which profiles were created - Monaco 4.8.3.

It should be noted that the OCP ink coverage is the smallest of the tested inks. In the case of using Cyan 140, the coverage increased slightly compared to Cyan142. There is no deep black in the real photo. With a lack of color it is easier - the eyes do not notice the difference.

Here are the screenshots of ink coverage.

You can really see that the coverage of the OCP ink does not allow you to get good black.

I can say the following about burnout tests. Burn-in of all compatible inks is the same. For no one has any important component that Claria ink has. The original ink practically did not burn out after 45 minutes of irradiation. The change to LightMagenta is barely noticeable.

What the Germans, the manufacturers of OCP ink, said about burnout, as well as the light fastness of Cyan 140, I did not understand.

The result is on the face, as they say ...

Dedicated to those who firmly believe in the perfect color reproduction of OCP inks. And also that there is no need to profile the original ink.

Test pattern printed with ink OCP , color management from the driver.

Since my scanner costs 1500 rubles, there is no way to expect much from it. In reality, the photo is pale, there are no penumbras and there is a terrible redness in the dark details.

Test image printed with original ink, color management - driver.

As you can see, penumbra have already appeared, and the black color is already correct. Although the colors are actually pale. The gray scale is uneven.

It can be seen that the colors have already become more correct, the gray scale is even, good penumbra.

For printers: With the printer turned off, press the "Sheet" button without releasing it, press the "on" button, release it, continuing to hold the "Sheet" for 10 seconds.

For MFP without monitor: the same process, only instead of the “sheet” the “Stop” button (a triangle in a circle)

For with monitor: in the tab "Installation" - "Maintenance" - "Checking the nozzle" - "start" - "print".

Printing a test page without a PC

Got a brand new printer? In any case, you will need to print test pages to check the print quality. It is good if the printer is connected to a computer through which this process can be started. What if there is no such possibility? How to print a test page without a computer? Let's figure it out.

So, the following tips will come in handy for many modern devices. To begin, load plain white paper of the appropriate size into the input tray.

A test print page for inkjet printers is printed as follows: turn off the device with the button, press the "Sheet" button without releasing it, press the "ON" button, release it, continue to hold the "Sheet" button for about 10 seconds.

For Canon printers: hold down both buttons (in this case, the Resume and ON buttons) until the power indicator lights up. After that, while holding the ON button, release and press the Resume button twice, release both buttons. After that, the ready indicator will light up, which will signal the service mode. To print a test sheet - press Resume once, confirm the action with the ON button.

Printing a test sheet for multifunction without a display: a similar process, only instead of the "Sheet" button - the "Stop" button (triangle in a circle)

Test page for inkjet printing with a multifunctional device equipped with a display: select the "Installation" tab, then - "Maintenance" - the "Check nozzle" menu - the item "Start" and "Print".
