Where can I order a souvenir from clay. New business ideas

***
Hello, dear friends and guests of the blog "We create - we are not lazy!". Have you ever sculpted a clay souvenir with your own hands? No? Do you think working with clay is difficult? Sometimes it seems that way to me too… To remember, at least, my first experience of working with this material… It’s difficult, but very interesting!….

I want to introduce you to a very creative person who creates under the pseudonym Black Wolf. In the world, the master's name is Tatyana))).

Tanechka is very fond of drawing, crafting from beads and other materials, including clay... and today she will tell us how to make a small clay souvenir with her own hands. This is not a master class, but just a description, reading which, you begin to think that sculpting such beautiful little things is not so difficult ... if there was a desire ...

"Good day to all.

Probably, each of you going into a gift shop, at least sometimes, looked for cute souvenirs or themed figurines that could not only decorate your home, but also were small chests for small things, like rings and chains. But, looking at the price of such a simple gizmos, sighed in disappointment and returned the figurine to the shelf. Since the price for such a small thing seems prohibitively high and I want to spend this money on something more serious than a simple figurine.

In general, I want to tell you how you can make a similar clay souvenir with your own hands.

You don't need to be a sculptor for this, all you need to create such a figurine is:

- Clay (Self-hardening). for example, such
If you do not want to wait a long time for the clay to dry and harden, then you can use plastic, it hardens when heated.

– Acrylic paint

Color of your choice, I used silver and gold. Acrylic is good because when using it, it is not necessary to cover the figure with varnish.

- A thin stick like a toothpick (A match or a needle will work too)

Better two sticks, the second for the tree.

The dimensions of the figurine depend only on you, but, in any sculptural product, there are always small details that, alas, cannot be made by hand. Here, for decoration, it is precisely the small details that we need one stick or needle, and the second for fastening (preferably wooden, so that it can be shortened if desired).

This is how the souvenir looks like, which I ended up with ... something like ancient ruins ...
Therefore, I affectionately dubbed the figurine "Ruined". She's not big at all. Only about six centimeters long and four wide.

How to make "Ruin" - a small clay souvenir with your own hands

First of all, when working with clay, however, as when working with any other material, the workplace must be equipped in advance so as not to run after the necessary things later and not distract yourself from the creative process.

Be sure to lay a newspaper or a plastic tablecloth on the work surface so as not to stain everything around. In addition, prepare a container with ordinary water and rags (in order to wipe your hands during work)

When the workplace is ready, we start sculpting a souvenir.

How to work with clay, see the packaging of the material you purchased. Technologies with different materials may vary, but the principle of creating a figurine will be the same for all materials, even if you sculpt from simple plasticine ...

I sculpted from self-hardening clay Keraplast. And the description is built precisely on the basis of working with this particular material.

We sculpt bricks, foundation and walls

We take a small piece of clay and begin to sculpt bricks. We simply crush the clay with our fingers, giving it a rectangular shape in the form of a small brick. In this case, the bricks are no more than 1-1.5 centimeters long.

It’s not worth sculpting a lot, as the bricks begin to dry and it will be difficult to correct them later. The missing "building material" can always be added.

From the resulting small bricks, lay out the base or foundation of the figure according to the following scheme
Then comes the door, columns and two supporting bricks.

The columns are two small clay cylinders, and the door is a rectangle larger than bricks.

In order for the structure not to fall, we take some clay and twist it into a flagellum. We substitute to the greatest inconsistencies between the bricks and crush.
You can not get carried away with this, since in this case, the support between the joints is clay disguised as moss.

Having finished with the walls, we proceed to sculpt the tree.

We sculpt a tree and fix it in a sculpture

I chose this shape because of the support points, in the area of the first fold (it rests against the wall) and the base.

As soon as the shape of the tree is ready, we take the second stick and pierce the base of the trunk, approximately to the middle. Don't worry if you pierce a tree through, it can be disguised. Now you need to choose exactly where the tree will stand. As soon as a suitable place has been chosen, we take out the stick and substitute the workpiece to the chosen place. If nothing interferes with the workpiece, then again we take the stick. And already in the chosen place, we make a puncture, but try not to pierce the bottom of the figure.
Before putting the tree in its rightful place, we take another stick and squeeze small grooves in our blank. Emitting the bark of a tree.

Well, the tree is in place, so the floor of the work is done. It remains to make small, but no less important details.

As I said above, moss is not only a decorative element, but it also serves as an additional support for our figure.
Look through your workpiece and first of all take care of the weakest, in your opinion, places.

Clay will help us here too. Take small pieces and flatten them between your fingers. We apply to the selected place and holding, but not pressing hard, with your fingers. We use a stick, first crushing the edges, then we make torn, not deep grooves. Emitting the surface of moss.
Once the weaknesses are over, you can proceed to the rest of the decoration. It's up to you to decide where to continue decorating your figurine with moss.

When the work is completed and you like the result, we leave our figure to rest and dry.

My workpiece dried for a day and a half, because. I waited for the walls to dry, and only then turned the figure over so that the base would dry.

This is done so that the upper part of the figure does not deform under its own weight. Therefore, take your time, it is better to wait until the top is completely dry.

After the figure dries, the most interesting stage of work begins. Painting!

How to paint a clay figurine

In my case, I chose silver and gold paint. At first, of course, I wanted to paint more naturally, but the main colors died and could not be restored ... therefore, silver and gold ....

When painting your clay blank, consider the following. If the clay from which you sculpted was a regular color, and not whitewashed, then you should first paint the figurine white (or another color, depending on what you want to end up with) for the base. Otherwise, you may not get the desired color.

As an example, you can see these two photos.
On the front of the figurine, I initially painted over everything with silver, which is why the areas painted with gold look bright, reminiscent of gold.

Moss patches on the back of the figurine were not pre-painted with silver, because of this, the golden color merges with the original color of the clay, resembling bronze.

Personally, I was satisfied, as I achieved a similar effect.

After painting, the product must be allowed to dry ...

That's all. An old ruined fortress - a small souvenir made of clay with your own hands is ready. This product can be used both for decorative purposes and as a small “jewelry chest”, putting some of your jewelry there.
Or you can give it to someone, I think it’s not a shame to give such a gift and it’s nice to receive it.

I hope you enjoyed it and enjoy your own creations.

And don't forget to leave your comment. Your opinion matters to me!

If you are bored and you don’t know how to keep yourself busy, then you can try yourself as a sculptor and make beautiful ones with your own hands. souvenirs as a keepsake or as a gift. I will say right away that hand made requires great patience and nerves, but at the end of the work you will be rewarded with a good result.

Of course, you need to decide on the material for your work. It will be clay crafting. You can find it in many children's stores or stationery stores. Most often, it is sold in the form of a powder, which we filter to remove impurities. Next, add some water. We make excellent soft clay! She is moderately fat and obedient in her hands. To test its quality, you can dip it in water and then rub it. If the clay is well kneaded in the hand, then it is of high quality. If it is rough, and you feel it, then the clay is of poor quality.

Place of work. Must have good lighting - this is a must (the light must fall from the left). Make a stand to secure the bell shape. You can use a frame (a more complex mechanism for fixing shapes). When sculpting, use thin mittens that fit close to the body and do not hinder movement.

Let's start with the body. Take a piece of clay, which is enough at your discretion for the shape of a person. Thoroughly knead it on a stand. Knead until, when giving different forms, no more cracks appear. To give the desired softening, add water, but do not overdo it with water! Gradually shape the clay into a triangular shape, but for now without any internal space. Work with two hands - this will give you the opportunity to shape the two sides of your figure at once. Constantly look at the work to give the figure the exact proportions and not spoil it. Remove large unnecessary pieces of clay with a knife. Small details, on the contrary, with the help of stacks. They will allow you to remove or attach small parts. Gradually smooth the top of the triangle. Do not sculpt the bell right away! Just ruin your work. But we need sound, and for that we need an inner (hollow) part for the sound to resonate. We begin to push through the middle with a finger. This must be done carefully! We start first from the middle, then we go to push along the edges. Our body is ready!

Let's move on to the head and limbs. For our head, a regular volumetric oval made of clay is suitable. Gently attach it to the body. Limbs. Much easier with them. Just attach the so-called "sausages" to the body. When attaching one part to another, for example, a leg to the body, the attachment points on both forms must be scratched with a sliver and moistened with plenty of water. Otherwise, parts of the sculpture may come off. In the process, you can add muscles, as well as make the shape of the hand and fingers. This can be done with a simple pinch. Legs on bells do not. Its lower part acts as the hem of a dress or pants (but this is already in the process of decorating and painting the figure). It should be remembered that solid objects cannot be inserted into wet clay: when it dries, it shrinks, but not solid objects, as a result, the product will crack. So introduce solid objects so that when the clay dries, it can be removed (same wire). Drying should take place without it.

After waiting a bit, we thread a coin on a wire or thread into a bell so that the coin rings. We're almost done with the work. Minor items should be considered. These can be hats, objects in hands, or something else, at the discretion of the sculptor. We attach them (I advise that the details are also made of clay).

If you do not have time to finish the work, then cover the work with a damp cloth. The next day, the clay will remain damp, and you can safely continue your work.
Leave the sculpture to stand for a while to dry. If you have a stove at home, after drying, put the figurine there. This is done after the stove is heated. This phenomenon is called roasting. After preparing the figurine, you can begin to paint it. After the stove, she will sign very well! I paint it with ornaments. This is traditional for me. Good luck, gentlemen, remember that this is handmade - you have every right to be creative in the process.

They exist in many manifestations of the reality around us, but each of them is interpreted differently, since any person has his own key to the definition of a particular symbol. Translated from Greek symbol- this is a sign, an image of a thing or animal to indicate the quality, property of an object. A conditional indicator of any concepts, ideas, phenomena.

Chinese zodiac.

Symbolism is most common in the East, where a certain meaning was attributed to each phenomenon, thing. The Eastern calendar did not escape this fate either. A small digression into history: the Chinese zodiac appeared due to observations of the orbit of Jupiter, whose period of revolution around the Sun is 11.8 years. For uncertain reasons, it was the 12-year cycle that inspired the Chinese astrologers the most, and subsequently the eastern zodiac calendar was compiled from it.
The chronology is based on a large 60-year cycle, divided into 5 small ones of 12 years each. Each year corresponds to a specific animal: starting with the Rat, followed by the year of the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Boar. There are five primary elements, elements. They go one by one (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) and are divided by colors (blue, red, yellow, white, black).

Symbol of the New Year.

On the eve of the New Year in Russia, toys and souvenirs in the form of a symbol of the coming year are very popular. A large selection of souvenirs and gifts with the symbols of the coming year is offered today in the trading network, but a hand-made souvenir will seem much more spectacular! This is an excellent and inexpensive present for a colleague, acquaintances or as an addition to the main gift. A small souvenir, at the same time, carries a significant semantic load - giving a friend, loved one a present in the form of an animal figurine, to which the coming year will be dedicated, you thereby wish the giver health, prosperity, prosperity, success in everything.
But, in the East, the attitude towards such presentations is different - it is customary to give not souvenirs with the symbol of the coming year, but sweets and fruits, for example ... tangerines. This interethnic tradition has its roots in China and has been going on for more than a thousand years. There it was customary to give two tangerines to friends for the New Year, and since they were expensive in those days, with this gift the incoming guest expressed a wish for wealth to the owners.
When leaving home, the guest was again handed two tangerines. So the hosts wished the guest wealth. There was a mutual wish for prosperity. In Chinese, the phrase "tangerine pair" is very similar in sound to the word, which translates as - "gold".

Today, tangerines can rightfully be considered the most common symbol of the New Year holidays in most countries of the world. They got accustomed perfectly in Russia! In every house, the festive table is decorated with tangerines, their aroma is mixed with the smells of delicious New Year's dishes, the smell of spruce, under which gifts from Santa Claus will lie at midnight!

Signs of the Eastern calendar.

Unlike the Western, generally accepted calendar, in which each of the 12 signs is assigned a month, in the Eastern one, a whole year is dedicated to each animal sign. And, as astrologers note, it is these 12 mythological beasts that determine the influence of the cosmos on the fate of people, literally from birth.

Zodiac calendar.

Throughout the existence of mankind, the starry sky has attracted people with its mysterious beauty and mysterious unknown. Ancient people were completely sure that everything that happens on Earth was sent from heaven. Since in those distant times there were no clocks and calendars, our ancestors oriented themselves in space, studying the correct "reading" of the starry sky.

Indeed, in any clay product, no matter whether it is a painted mug, a baby rattle or original New Year's souvenirs, the warmth of the hands of the master is preserved, an elusive piece of his inspiration and soul
The art of making pottery, household utensils and cute toys comes from ancient times. Traditionally, this is one of the favorite folk crafts in Rus' in their free time from agricultural work. Funny ceramic whistles, clay souvenirs and toys had unique national features that were typical for a particular area. In the 17th century, during the reign of Alexei Mikhailovich, there was a tradition at the court to buy toys made of clay at the auction as gifts for holidays and various significant dates to their relatives and guests, and sometimes just to please the royal children with trifles. Wealthy people specially ordered toys from the craftsmen, while the cost of such clay souvenirs was always quite high.
Anything can be molded from pliable and soft clay. And here the imagination of the masters knew no bounds, therefore, along with useful pottery, ladies with buffoons, bulls and pot-bellied cows, cats, dogs, frogs and golden-maned horses, as well as amazing souvenirs made by hand, appeared in the world. Unusually bright and unique clay crafts, both then and now, bring joy and a certain sense of magic to every home where they appear. The interior, in which there are elements of ceramics (donated or even made independently), is characterized by unprecedented comfort. And the only drawback of ceramic products - their fragility - does not look so significant against the background of all the above advantages.
Probably, you already once had a chance to give gifts made of ceramics - a figurine, a vase, a cup, etc. make your recipients extremely happy. And if you also choose a clay souvenir in accordance with the theme of the holiday, for example, give original New Year's souvenirs for the New Year in the form of an animal - a symbol of the coming year, and give a baby a similar whistle, you can be 100% sure that your gift will be remembered for a long time. Guests from abroad are especially glad to receive a clay souvenir as a gift, for whom such products made in the Russian folk style are really a curiosity. The main thing here is to be guided by the social status, age, needs and interests of the one you will give gifts.
If you need to present a clay gift to a child (schoolchild), then you can pick up a funny ceramic piggy bank made in the form of a dog, pig, kitten or other cute animal, car or favorite cartoon character. Older teenagers should choose a piggy bank in a more original way - for example, in the form of a thick barrel with a cool inscription or kind words. A figurine that reflects the hobby of the recipient of the gift or carries a symbolic meaning-wish can have more claims to originality.
A young girl will be delighted with an elegant flower vase, she will like a jewelry box or a ring stand even more. With older women, the situation is simpler - for them, unusual clay gifts are presented in the widest assortment. These are vases, tea and coffee sets, the same caskets and beautiful figurines….
For men, handmade clay gifts can be selected in the form of wine sets, beer mugs, decorative compositions that reflect their hobbies.
As a good memory of the places where you went to rest, you can bring to your relatives pleasant piece-work clay souvenirs, which can be, for example, bas-reliefs of the sights you visited. A truly worthy ceramic souvenir as a gift to your loved ones will be wall panels, as well as decorative plates with hand-sculpted figures of animals or people on them, the same sights, seascapes, etc.
Huge ceramic vases designed for flowers and fruits are considered an object of prestige and interior decoration, emphasizing the status and wealth of the owners of the house. Such a gift is appropriate in appropriate cases - for significant family dates and anniversaries. In addition, this is an excellent option for a business or corporate gift.
It is worth saying that a real, well-made clay product is a somewhat expensive pleasure. However, the high price fully justifies itself, because each clay product presented in the gift catalog on our website is an exclusive, invaluable result of the craftsman's handiwork, which means that you will not find the second exactly the same little thing anywhere. A gift made of clay or a product bought for oneself can become a real talisman for its owner, warming the house with its warmth and constantly bringing joy and good luck.
